Exactly, the peak times are mostly corporate / business traffic which ZL failed to capture, most pax are booked through corporate travel etc which rex did not feature on. Its best performing routes were leisure dominated such as OOL.

Maybe they should have focused on middle of the day services to target non-corporate pax.
 
I think the Saab routes remain profitable - while the Saabs can keep flying. The clock is ticking though as the day of reckoning will arrive when the spare parts inventory will eventually run out.
The regionals will have to start looking soon. While I love flying on Link Airways' SAABs CBR-SYD, they're tired. D328 if it actually hits the market is the closest fit in terms of PAX, wheras the ATR-42 is slightly larger - handy if you are inserting solid-state batteries or hydrogen cells for refuelling with the same number of pax as the D328

To be honest, the entire 737 plan was so childish that just about anyone could have run it better. Read the slideshowā€¦ it even reads like the planning board for a boys footy weekend away.
Who writes all these press releases? They are all just so amateur. Even the ASX releases are full of sledges. Written by someone that is certainly unhinged.

LKH. Remember his email to the doctor years ago? (Worth a google if you havenā€™t read it). The same narcissist who made new pilots sign a letter stating theyā€™d ā€œdedicate themselvesā€ to the airline and accept conditions outside of their EBA. As I said above, losing this airline will be one of the best outcomes for aviation in this country. It was born out of desperation after Ansett collapsed and has been screwing the country since then.
 
Itā€™s telling the almost universal line from the government blames Rex itself for biting off more than it can chew with the capital city jet market.

Probably a big factor of why only those services are terminated and likely the government will bail out the regional services if required.

Nope, getting rid of management appears to be, based on recent revelations, an excellent outcome. The actual operational side of the equation should be recapitalised as this will be excellent for rural Australia.

Takes a lot to fix a culture thatā€™s been bred over 20 years. There are also a lot of regulatory positions in airlines that just canā€™t be ā€œreplacedā€. VA is a good example. Plenty of the same old faces still floating around.

Rex is down to less than half of its fleet, it cannot retain staff and is likely to upset more than a few stakeholders during the administration process. We have numerous other airlines who can pickup the essential routes and grow the others. Time to pass the torch.

I donā€™t think you understand how large companies work. Iā€™ve outlined the issues above. Simply screaming ā€œmanagement!!!!ā€ is not making a point.

As I said, we have numerous other regional airlines that can take over these largely state government subsidised routes. QantasLink, flypelican, Link Airways, Skytrans, Hinterland all come to mind.

Case in point is VA1.0. Old management out , new mob comes in to have a go.

I guess you don't know that the operational side - the ground staff, cabin crew, pilots etc are actually well liked by their customers.

Whoever comes in will need a lot of capital.

QantasLink - likely will be blocked by ACCC.
