We've been seeing a lot of Uber competitors being mentioned on the Uber Experience thread so I thought it may be useful to compare them all here. I'll start with Muve and Uber.

Muve - BNE Dom to Home (Gold Coast Hinterland). Booked a "mini" and got a Mitsubishi Outlander. PITA traffic delays caused the trip to take 1 hour 20 minutes and the fare was $124.21 (but I did receive a $5 first ride discount which brought it down to $119.21).

Uber - BNE Dom to Home (Gold Coast Hinterland). Booked X and got a Mitsubishi ASX. Same time, same day of week and no delays (just under 1 hour) and was $109.57.

Muve charged double the Gateway Bridge toll to what Uber did, so a bit of profiteering there, but given the 20 minute delay, I guess Muve was marginally cheaper. For that time and that run it's unusual for such delays and the cost for the Uber was roughly my standard charge (one before was $108.70 and the one before that was $109.41), so it will be interesting to see the Muve price without delays.

The driver was on 5 ride share apps (I think he said) and he commented that for him Muve and Ola were the best although Muve doesn't have the facility to allow him to jump back to Brisbane with allocated rides in the same direction. He said Ola and Uber did that well.

I just looked at Ola and they appear to only allow same city rides, so for me getting from BNE to GC, it will be pointless. They're also not in many cities yet.

I'm just waiting until I have a couple of trips planned and am going to try Ola because they take less than Uber from the driver

Forget Ola and just download the DiDi App - driver I had yesterday has been with Uber for over 12mths and says DiDi far superior for drivers - he also accepts Taxify and Ola but says DiDi promotions are dragging so many across - he rarely gets a fair from Taxify or Ola any more.

I signed up to Ola and they're giving me a $20 ride as a bonus for being "one of our earliest users". Not sure if this was just a Gold Coast targeted offer.

I can't find an Au DiDi web presence. Is there one, or just an app?

Another point for Muve, is that they are Australian (or so I'm told). DiDi is Chinese and Ola is Indian.

Muve also pay 10% of their take to a charity of the riders preference.

Muve claims to pay the most to drivers.

EDIT: I have no connection to any ride share business, except as a user … and I'd like to continue that arrangement on a fair, sustainable and stable basis.

Muve CNS yesterday was range $9-$13 and Uber $18-$21. Went with Muve.

Same trip this morning had about the same ranges but the Muve guy cancelled on me, so I ended up on Uber. A taxi would have been about the same price as Uber. (DT-CNS to airport)

I'm not so sure about Muve claim of no surge pricing as I tried twice this morning to book Muve and the rate range did go up, but by only about $1.

I downloaded the Ola app the other day and got a text straightaway to say I had a $20 credit. The guy was both Ola and Uber driver. I used my Ola that day and think I will use them again

I’ve also used GoCatch in BNE when they offered $20 free ride and it was ok. Later they offered 50% off advanced booking so I tested them with 5am booking to airport. Was surprised to see a taxi waiting for me and later I read in the T&Cs that if no GoCatch driver is not available for an advance booking a taxi will be sent instead.
What I didn’t like was the fact they charged full taxi fare which made the ride to airport just marginally cheaper than UberX after taking 50% off.

Scammed! Surely you must know and agree to the higher chaarges before accepting?

The indonesian ride shares giants Go and Grab are both doing this with Taxi services. Except that you dont pay the Taxi rate. The taxi driver still runs his meter, and goes tappity tap tap on his phone at the end of the ride, but the rider only pays the normal rideshare rate. (and its a fixed price agreed upon before accepting the booking)

I use ridesharing a lot and have been giving Ola a good run in Sydney lately as the promo discounts work pretty well. They've ranged from 15-25% off up to $10 max lately (and my rides are longish so I always just get the $10).

Didn't work with a pickup from domestic though and I paid about 10% more than Uber.

I've found the Ola drivers are generally a bit more average than Uber. I had one abuse me for 10 minutes straight when going from Domestic to the Brighton Novotel about the short fare. Their service is also very average if you need to contact them. The app is a little buggy as well. I tried to get an Ola last week and after 3 goes (with "no driver available") I closed it and called an Uber. Both and Uber and Ola rocked up at the same time as the Ola app apparently eventually found someone but didn't notify me. I've also referred about 4 people, however the referral credit never comes through.

I suspect Ola will go the way of Taxify and just die off once the discount promos finish

I hope you reported the driver. There is no need for abusive behaviour. As a driver I have had plenty of minimum fares from the airport. I have also had plenty of great fares. You have to take the good with the not so good.

I went to book an Ola last night and it wouldn't let me get past the page where you rate the driver. My philosophy is if they're good I give them 5 if they are cr@p I rate them accordingly but if they are just so so I tend to not rate. If Ola is going to make me rate then I'm not going to use their app.

Have you used any of these services from BNE airport back to the city? What's the cheapest and what sort of fare would you expect to pay late evening?

GoCatch is a taxi service pretending to be a ridesharing service as 5 minutes in Google would show.

My time is too valuable to google search each service before using it. If they screw me once or if I feel a company is dishonest they won’t get my business again.
