Rockfords discussion

does anyone know how members move from budburst to stonewaller. Is it based on time or amount of purchases?

I can't answer directly, but I believe Stonewallers is a one out, one in system. Whether that is a Stonewaller has passed away or kicked out for being inactive.

I recall that they said I wouldn't get there any quicker by spending more, and it was more focused on long-term loyalty over a number of years. But I guess with any club that is invite only, being vague about the entry requirements does make it feel a bit more exclusive.

I can't recall when I signed up, but not too many years ago, and I am still a Budburster, despite having ordered at least one case each year... this year perhaps a few more as there's been a little more disposable income with no flying. Received the Rag yesterday, and a case turned up this morning. Brings my Black Shiraz stock to 19, so I better start drinking!

Side note, does anyone know how long the 2009 Moppa can rest before opening? I realise it is already (presumably) nicely bottle aged, but I don't want to overdo it.

You can pass on your Stonewall membership in your will! (Told to me by Todd at the SW room)

Yes, on one of our visits it was explained in terms of 'interaction' - regular buying (doesn't necessary mean frequent buying), going to the cellar door, going to a lunch etc etc. Buy buying and enthusiasm obviously counts.

The total number of Stone Wallers is also regulated by the purchasing by SWers Vs stock. Again, Todd mentioned that as SWers get older, they tend to order less (I'm in that group). As the first groups of SWers are now 'getting on', the winery has more premium stock. so they admitted more new SWers in the past 2 years or so than they would have previously.

It has been indicated to me that Stonewallers don't get the boot but they might get a letter asking to confirm their ongoing interest.
Apparently it's also about buying a range of wine and not just BP come March.
Whatever the criteria it's never actually disclosed.

I knew that the 2019 semillon had been released, but I'm waiting for general availability of the 2020 frugal farmer to place an order.

Some interesting items available to those who have access though.

We popped in to Rockfords a couple of weekends ago. Very busy and needed to book for tastings. Alicante 2020 all gone and 21 in production. Yet Henley Beach Hotel has it by the glass.

Can a stonewaller purchase the Grenache via mail (ie without going to cellar door)?

Pity I wasnt told about it before I placed my order recently...

I'll send an email and see what they say.
