Rogue Crew or signs of the times?

I know that there are still a few shockers out there but all in all, the above is what I've experienced on most of my QF flights recently. I've also been surprised by some of the old dragons suddenly being friendly or at lest unfriendly in a rather cheeky way which is something I don't even mind that much (but I even love the old FAs on AA domestic if they're getting sh%# from the usual inexperienced redneck passengers- absolute gold!).
Anyway- back to topic: I think QF is upping their game lately and I've been very happy for the most of it!:D

I got a double welcome from the CSS & then CSM on my MEL-LAX flight last week and was offered noise canceling headphones by both of them and the nebulous "anything else you'd like" offer as well. They both stopped by for chats later in the flight as well. It could be an anomaly or perhaps QF has realised that the cheapest thing they can do to enhance the experience is excellent, friendly customer service.

I got a CSM welcome the other day on a flight. On this occassion I didnt mind, it was a leisure trip with no other concerns in the world....

Chatting with a VA pilot the other day as he was deadheading.......he said VA have knocked QF off its J mantle. Hard to believe? anyone know anything about this?

He was also very complimetary about JB, said he often rides in the jump seat and engages all the staff. Of course the man was in the mail room and worked his way up so he understands team work......

....
They won't knock QF domestic off their J mantle until they improve their food offering on 737's.

Posted on a wing and a prayer ...

Not sure what he meant. Not likely in terms of quantity of J given the relative market shares. In terms of quality of product offering - it is very subjective. I found VA ok but not stunning. I am consistently underwhelmed by the food in QF J though.

Having posted that, I must say the Business offering on the 332's between MEL/SYD and PER blows QF's away.

My experience recently on a trip from Melbourne to Yulara return and Melbourne to Darwin return ( in j) have been exemplary. Going to New York in August (J) and thailand in October ( J) so will be interesting to see if International matches domestic

In my recent experience, if you're happy with Qantas' domestic J product, then their international J will blow your mind -service wise, the hard product on the old non refurbished 747s is less than satisfactory unless you score an F seat for free. On my last flights, one in J and one in F, I would even go as far as saying the service quality could measure up with SQ, definitely way better than EK. And that's quite a statement I would say!

I've noticed a difference too, which is great.

I don't care if the plane's a bit old, if the food's a bit dodgy, if the IFE isn't perfect... but if you give me a great crew who exude warmth, humanity and friendliness... I'll have a great flight.

I hope QF management understand that their staff are everything. Train them well, treat them well, and they'll make us - your paying passengers - love QF in return. Train them poorly, treat them like peons... and they'll make us - your paying passengers - feel like we're a nuisance.

I read the start of this thread a few days ago, and lo I boarded a CBR-SYD QF flight in J on Wednesday morning and the crew were brilliant.

I was flying with my wife and 2.5yr old - they had a child's flight pack waiting for us when we walked down the bridge onto the aircraft, the entire crew was friendly and helpful throughout the flight and they even grabbed some biscuits from the Y cabin for us on the way out to help keep our daughter happy for the bus ride over to the international terminal. Best QF flight crew I've had for a long time, and that made the entire flight experience immensely enjoyable.

What a shame the experience wasn't matched on QF7 in J a few hours later.

QF9 on Wednesday and the crew were great on both legs. CSM came up and introduced himself and offered NC headphones. And they were more than happy to refill my drink all the way to SIN!

I've come across this rouge crew once a few months ago - About the same time as DJ launched their Business Class (coincidence?). They were really good, attentive and were addressing everyone in rows 4-6 by name (I think it tapered off from there on in) Although I haven't seen them much since - will let you know if I find them again next week on SYD-CBR. Hopefully I do!
