Hi
As Emirates has a Rome to Dubai service does that mean that flights will be available from the 31st March with Qantas useing points.? ..At the moment on the any seat award they still only offer the option of Rome/london/Dubai..? But they have at least added the Emirates choice there but not direct..
Cheers

I called recently and was advised that (subject to approval) awards ex-DXB on EK flight numbers will be available from 31 March. I am assuming it will be once approval is received.

We are booked through to Frankfurt in May (using points) then have a paid flight to Rome. Received a 'change of flight' email from Qantas which would have us arriving in FRA about 20 minutes before the flight to Rome leaves. I am a bit annoyed as I booked (and paid $ for) that flight because Qantas said originally that Frankfurt was continuing till October.

I have refused the new flight and was told that if I call back on the 31st March I may be able to pick up a flight from Australia direct to Rome via Dubai. All a bit nerve-wracking waiting, but I keep telling myself that Qantas needs to sort it so that I can make the flight from Frankfurt to Rome or fly there directly.

I just want it sorted please Qantas

It is not Qantas, it is the regulator (ACCC) you require for it to be sorted.

Thanks yo yo ma - I realise the ACCC needs to approve it all before I can get an Emirates flight

However, I took Qantas at their word that Frankfurt would continue until October and therefore paid for a connecting flight from Frankfurt to Rome which now I can't make. So IMHO Qantas needs to sort that issue for me whether or not the ACCC gives the final go-ahead.

To be honest booking non-connecting flights was always a risk.
What if QF had continued to fly to FRA but retimed the flight to be two hours later, or on that day the flight was two hours late?

Maybe not the wisest decision, but I was prepared to wear the risk of arriving late. With Qantas' flight change tho, I don't have any choice but to miss the connection.

Lovely lovely Qantas! Had my third call from Qantas last night really really pushing me to accept the change. He said it would make no difference - that I could still ring on the 31st looking for a better option, and if I accepted it would allow them to clear a problem that kept flashing up to them to be fixed. I just kept saying no and he kept pushing harder. I held out and was feeling pretty flat at the end of it all.

His take was that it wasn't Qantas' problem as they were still getting us to Dubai on the same day, whereas the previous two consultants had tacitly agreed that it was.

Anyway - 20 minutes later he called back after speaking with his supervisor and offered me seats direct from Dubai to Rome which Qantas had paid for (not award seats) Couldn't say YEES quickly enough!

And very happy to throw away two tickets Frankfurt to Rome via Copenhagen on May 28th

I booked 2 x JASA to Rome for my parents last year for August this year SYD - SIN - FRA - FCO return. Qantas now have them flying SYD - DXB - FCO return with DXB - FCO and return legs on EK metal after only 1 phone call and a call back. Must have been lucky.

Well done! The difference may have been at we were booked only to FRA and were doing the FCO ourselves. The direct SYD - DXB - FCO is a great improvement on the SYD - SIN - FRA - FCO too!
