... was the Interior Ministry building in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Of course I didn't know that at the time; it just looked like a cool building. - after all, we had been told by the Australian Ambassador "On no account photograph anything you might be inclined to bomb during a war - government buildings, bridges, palaces etc. If you do, you risk summary arrest". Ooops.

... is the cathedral at Burgos, Spain. Another stop in my callow youth when my interest in historical buildings was limited to Westminster Abbey and similar Brit places. Another stop where I thought "that looks interesting; wonder what it is?". I went in and figured you could fit Westminster Abbey into it about 5 times over. Wow! There is more to old stuff than Britain!

Almaty? The relocated one…. nope…..

hmmm.. a hint…..Cruising folks mostly see this….a bit far off the beaten track for regular tourists
Svalbard? Or technically barentsburg I suppose

Neither! Umberto Ecco is the clue!
I keep thinking of "The Name of the Rose" which has been both a film and TV series. But it doesn't look quite right to be Roccascalegna Castle which Wikepedia assures me was the filming location for the tv show.
