Roomba, Dysons, Thermomix and other household appliances

I've realised my main grubbiness comes when I empty the dishwasher and water drips go in places. Of course then there are crumbs. So now I have a tea towel under the dishwasher and I'm so much cleaner 😂.

Oh c'mon, the weather this week is going to be sublime. 😀. It will be our last weekend at Henley as we are off to Sydney the weekend after, well, if we are allowed to, and we move on the next Friday.
Sublime for you. Might be better when I get shutters on the veranda

I got a quote today on very subtle shade cloth blinds for the northern sun that we get and which belts onto two bedroom sliding doors, including the main one, once the sun moves lower into the sky, which is, now for the next 8 months. Might be nice in July but April - May and then October - November it is fierce. Shutters block on the inside but preventing it hitting the windows would be better. We have to be a bit sneaky as BC is a bit cough when it suits them but given they have sat on essential repairs to our balcony since they commissioned a report 12 YEARS ago, if they whinge ill simply mention that in 12 years time, if my repairs have been done now, then that's about the right time to remove them. No one in the actual building will likely even see them. And I can see down into the guy's yard who manages the BC on behalf of the people we pay thousands each quarter to manage, and he has even installed awnings which are as "illegal" as ours so 🤷‍♀️ He is the one most likely to report but I made sure we are very friendly. Keep the enemy close 😉

I promise JT, these shade cloth blinds are appliances as they run on tracks and can be automated and so not OffTopic. (See what I did there).

All you had to do was mention FruChocs and you would have been fine. (See what I did there?) 😉

Looks nice!

I'm happy with the Roomba i7+ with auto empty into base unit but they are very expensive. They also have an accompanying flook mop robot that can be triggered after the i7 has done the vacuum. Note Kogan have a range of vac and wash robots at much cheaper prices that "seem" to get good reviews. Maybe worth trying one to see.
Resurrecting this thread. Wondering how is the I7+ is going after 3 months or so? Any problems/issues? I've always had a Roomba until a few years ago when "Roberta" finally gave up the ghost after nearly 5 years of service. Other half then went out and grabbed a Dyson, much to my dismay ( who is going to actually push it around I asked..). The new I7+ is calling me but I'm still a tad hesitant for some reason ....

It’s been excellent. It very occasionally loses its connection to the cloud and doesn’t like dark rooms. Doesnt clean as good as manual vac but good enough and I run it every 2-3 days instead of every 14 for the old vac. Does a slightly better job on carpet than wood, but wood floors are kept clean.

I’ve replaced the base bag once and clean the filter every week and wash out the dust box (nice one can do this now).

So, overall, happy. MRSTMA has christened (named) it “Dalek Spawn”.:)

Reminds ne me, sitting on the deck reading AFF, I should do a cleaning run. Just told Alexa to do a clean! Gotta love LS’ing devices.

Does anyone use a steam oven ?
Microwaving the veges may be crude..but it's fast.. how long does it take a steam oven to do it's thing ?
We are looking at a combined steam/microwave in the new build..

I'm not sure but when we were doing our kitchen a salesperson was demonstrating a combined steam/micro and when I said we did frozen peas said they would taste like just off the bush - defrost for 10 - 15 mins then steam for 5-10 mins.

bought a Roborock s7 after moving to a new house. Best purchase of the decade.
Does great maintenance cleans. We probably run it 6 days a week.
Love how it leaves tracks on our carpet. It’s like a zen garden.

Same - whilst toying with getting the IRobot I7+, came across all the reviews for the Roborock S7 and picked it up last week. ( I think I got the last one in the Greater Melbourne area). General vacuuming and mopping maintenance is very good. Have it programmed to do a daily full clean in the morning, then an afternoon mop and vacuum in the heavy traffic areas. Am waiting for the auto self empty dock to hit Australia

One needs an auto docking device, IMHO. Brand is probably not particularly relevant I suspect. That’s why I bought the I7+.

Ooh! I did not realise there was an S7 roborock- does it add much over the S6? I have hard floors so wanting a vacuum and mopper in one
