Hi all

I'm having some troubles working out the best plan for a trip to Seattle, New York and London in August/September this year. I'm leaving from Sydney on 18 August and need to be back in Sydney on 25 September.

I want to spend about a week each in Seattle and New York, with the remainder of my time in London. The order I visit the cities in doesn't matter to me. Happy to spend a couple of nights in another city along the way if needed.

I'm a QC member and would prefer to fly with QF, AA, BA to take advantage of lounge access.

I'm having trouble working out which way to order the flights to get the best value. I'm also unsure of whether I should be booking tickets now or waiting a month or two.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide!

Bit too much of a blank slate this one. I'd suggest checking out matrix - Matrix - ITA Software - and plugging in your requirements. It's the most comprehensive, flexible and easy to use system once you understand it. It won't sell you the ticket, but you can take the info it gives you to a travel agent.

Good luck!

Obviously the best fare would be a RTW,xONEx.
If you were flying economy then basically a simple routing into LAX-SEA-NYC-LHR and home via Asia.
If you were flying J then it would make sense to use the maximum 5 sectors in the USA to get the most SCs.Probably something like LAX-DFW-SEA-MIA-DFW-LGA and get 600SC's as on a DONE you book into F on AA 2 class domestic flights.

Thanks for the advice. The oneworld booking tool was being painful the other day, but is giving me quotes now.

Does pricing for xONEx tix fluctuate much during the year? ie would it be best to buy now, wait or doesn't it matter?

Also, I seem to recall Qantas generally have a fairly large international sale sometime in May/June. Is this right?

The price of xONEx has some seasonal variety but I think that is only for whY tix. Other than that the price just goes up :(
