Row 3 v Paid Exit Row - new Plat

The second exit row (14) does recline, as it reclines into a normal row space.
The first exit row (13) doesn't. And pity PAX in row 12 - no extra leg room AND no recline!
Good to know VA is installing the TTL only locking mechanism same as on QF 738s.

That said I'd pick row 3 by preference but a shadow would swing me either way.

Actually I was in row 4 today and only just noticed how much extra legroom there is compared with 5 and beyond!

I looked at this the other day and didn't notice any more leg room in row 4 compared to others. What airplane was this on? 737-800?

A couple of the older aircraft have almost as much legroom in row 4 as row 3. That is, row 3 is closer to the bulkhead than normal and row 4 gets the additional legroom. Will have to try and get the rego next time.

VH-VUJ is one of them from memory.

Do any apps or sites let you look up the rego in advance of a flight?

Yeah it was a 737-8

Very good memory! It was VH-VUJ that I was on.

I was thinking hey how have I not noticed this (am I really that zombie like on those early morning flights?) then I flew home this afternoon on VH-VUY and was realised that it was a once off. sigh...

So at online check in stage golds can choose all seats but exit including row 3? What about silvers?

Was on VUJ today and can confirm that the pitch in row 4 is very generous, much better than row 3 in front, and it reminded me of exit row legroom space.
Also other rows from 4-12 represented a bit more legroom than the bsi aircraft i have flown on recently.

wondering if the fact that VUJ had 29 rows instead of the usual 30 is the reason
