Hi all,

my family and I (2xAd1x2-12,1x6mth old) are traveling to London later this year with Royal Brunei. When I requested a seat with a bassinet we were told that we had to pay extra to be seated against the bulkhead for our infant to use it - an additional $400AUD in economy.

Has anyone had a similar experience and were their any alternatives - eg. requesting it upon checkin? Many thanks

According to their website: Seat Selection - Australia

I am traveling with an infant. Will I get a Bassinet Seat?

Bassinets are located in the Preferred Seating area. To secure a bassinet seat, you will have to purchase a preferred seat. Bassinets are limited and we recommend contacting your nearest RB office to book a bassinet

Ouch! I get that bulkheads are usually preferred, but to charge for the bassinet is a bit rich.

That stinks. I guess your options are pay for it, hope that no-one else pays for it and they allocate it to you on check-in, or use another airline.

In what way are they "charging for the bassinet"? (Thinking about it, it is actually somewhat surprising to me airlines do NOT charge for their use/cleaning. Some nominal sum would seem reasonable surely?) Unfortunate - but logical - that the only bassinets are in the "preferred" seating area... .. Is the seating charge LESS than buying a seat for the infant?

Royal Brunei are specifically slugging families for the bassinet seat. The premium to be seated in the ‘bassinet’ seat is 3x the cost of non-bassinet seats in the same row.

This is over and above the 10%-of-a-seat charge they have already charged us for the infant.

I know why you see it that way, but the charge is the same for ANYONE wanting those seats isn't it???....not just families who want to actually USE the bassinett? If so then there is nothing specific about it at all....
