Royals Flying back home

I read today that the royals are flying back home on Qantas . Is it on a regular flight? Does anyone have any detail about the logistics of such a flight on a regular airline? Is the first and/or business cabins blocked out? They obviously with a lot of staff so I imagine they could fill up the cabins easily. Do they depart from the regular terminal in SYD or is there some kind of VIP departure lounge? What happens in Dubai in transit? And lastly - what would have happened to any passengers that were booked on this flight in the first class cabin - would the first class not be for sale on this flight or would they be bumped?

Details are unclear but it looks like the gifted wombat could be getting an 'F' seat.

It is indeed a regular flight, I think they have an entourage of a dozen or so so they will fill the F cabin but not much more. The flight would leave from the regular terminal in Sydney; the ceremonial farewell where the Prime Minister and such see them off was done in Canberra before they flew RAAF to Sydney. That said, I suspect the Royals would be driven from whatever Sydney has for VIP passengers rather than using the Flounge.

In Dubai they would be very used to dealing with the myriad royals of the UAE so no doubt there is a VIP section incorporated into the lounges there.

As Royal tours would be organised nearly a year in advance the F cabin may have never gone on sale in this date; if people were bumped from F that could easily be rerouted via MEL; there are plenty of empty seats at present.

The only thing which would be a little unusual about the flight would be the divider between F and Y; I am sure they would have some security detail there to stop people sneaking a photo or going all VA to Bali on them.

All in all great extra revenue for QF, as no doubt all the UK press pack were booked on this flight too.

I think it will be a lot easier flying west to LHR IME.
I am curious as to how the adventurous J pax who think the F toilets are there for their convenience are corralled upstairs.

We will foot the bill for the Royals themselves and the dozen or so official staff (although this would be split with New Zealand since the tour spent nearly half the time in NZ).

However all the British press (all of the 10 or so daily papers plus the BBC and ITV seem to have sent someone over) will want to be on that Qantas flight home so that will be good revenue for Qantas. (I wonder how good the journos' travel agreements are? J for all their team or just the 'on air' talent?)

The Royals have never been busier, it really is just like the old days with a Scottish Rebellion to be defeated.
