Wondering if any of you experts can assist me with my decisions.
Planning a RTW trip and have used points (QFF) before but also have done the cheap ticket thing a few years ago . Now that points value has gone up and RTW prices seems like you can get some good deals going

Any experiences you experts may have would be appreciated and as I only need Pth- Syd - Lax-JFK -Lon- Sin -Pth. Should be able to get cheap flight. Havent started yet and anyone know the latest best options.
Thanks

It really depends on how many spare points you have vs how much spare cash you have. I used 910,000 points for 7 x RTW awards a few years back and used the money saved to fund the accommodation, car rental, food and activities for a 3 month holiday.

But today if just for ome ticket I would likely pay the fare.

Note that there are some specific restrictions around the conditions of the OneWorld Award from Qantas. One such condition is that no changes can be made once you take the first flight. That means is you miss a flight for any reason you are on your own for the rest of the trip. The remaining itinerary is cancelled and you are stuck where you are. So make sure you have suitable travel insurance that will handle such as situation.

thanks for advise so far
