Glad QF never went down this path and hope they stay away from the 777.

Especially seating 10 across in economy.

Who knows, but the 777 could have had them in a much better position today.

It's one of those things we will never know.

Come to think of it, imagine they have a fleet of 777 now, where would they fly them to? I could only think of it doing the SYD-NRT, replacing a 744, or at a stretch, perhaps FRA, also replacing 2 or 3 744s in the process. If they have the 77W, perhaps they could take it to DFW. I think other destinations would either call for a 744/388, or be perfectly adequate with a 332/333.

Considering the A380 config was extremely spacious compared to other carriers, there’s nothing to suggest they would have started with 10 across. There’s plenty to suggest they’d be refitting right about now to that configuration though :p

Yes we will never know.

I guess most people would not care about 10 across.

ZRH, MUC, AMS, CDG. Basically anywhere in Europe, perhaps in conjunction with BNE-SIN, which seems to fluctuate between A330 and 744, 777 would be nice in between. Maybe MEL-HKG, SYD-PVG, SYD-BKK.

As others have pointed out, will never know as QF never went down the 777 path. But always fun to speculate.

Does it not have the legs for any route on the QF Network?

Forget JHB with ETOPS, but for everything else it can fit.
Would have been handy during the 380 issues.

Maybe AA will loan QF the one they just ordered!

777 might be suited to SYD-SCL.

But chances of this rumout coming to fruition is as slim as QFi posting a profit.

I still doubt they would go to Europe even if they had the 777, but if they did, then yes, the 777 would've been perfect for those roles. I'm not sure on the loads on the BNE-SIN flights, although the few times I've been on it, it seems that they didn't need more than an A333 (ignoring the hard product). MEL-HKG, I think this should've been a jumbo class plane in the first place, or perhaps a couple of A330s daily. Y is packed to the brim for the rest of this week MEL-HKG on both CX and QF, so one of those reconfiged 744s would be quite handy right about now, although I guess a high density version 773 might also work. Can't really comment on the other two routes though.
