sorry 10+ nights towards GHA.

Had my email replied to today and the status change has now taken effect (i was at 14 nights showing, was still gold so emailed update)

Hope your benefits come through!

Has anyone received their new PGR/Rydges card for this year?

I received my card for this year (ends Jan 2018) I think end of last yr? But that was after a bit of hounding although I knew it was xmas coming up. It's next years card I'm after but will wait until later in the year to hound them.

That's interesting.

I haven't received my card for this year; current card expired Jan 2017.

Not that I'm complaining as I am still receiving 20 points per stay and 50% discount on meals and drinks (and decent upgrades):D. Once the new card eventually arrives, if ever, I will likely loose my top tier status.

Double upgrade to a Corner Room at QT SYD on 23/6 - a really nice unpublished benefit of having a Black PGR card even if upgrades are inconsistent.

I was told the dining rules have been tweaked a bit with now the 50% applying to a maximum of 2 diners and 20% off for the other 2 diners due to people handing their card around for large groups for the 50% off beverages if some food was ordered.

In saying that I had dinner with my dad at Rydges and used points + 50% off and we had steak, glass of wine each, and a dessert, totalled $12 each. Would have been cheaper had I remembered to use the drink voucher. I think the staff applied the points to the entire meal and didn't realise it's only up to the value of $28 per main (which came with veges here)

Also just had dinner for 4 of us, a couple weren't staying but we invited them for dinner as my friends conference was just across the road. Used points for mains, we had maybe 2 beers or wines each, 3 entrees, 3 sides of veg and 2 desserts shared. Totalled $77 for all 4 - also forgot to use drink voucher. Pretty good value IMO. Bit bummed about further diners only being allowed 20% off but it's still good value. Discounts now only apply to 4 diners at the same table in total.

Interesting reading as I thought the membership programs were separate & thought you had to qualify for each program individually. I have linked accounts & am GHA Black but PGR Gold, as confirmed to me by PGR as I couldn't see my membership level anywhere on the PGR site. So are those that obtained PGR Black Status by booking only via the PGR site able to log into the GHA site & see GHA Black as their membership level?

My PGR and Discovery memberships have the same membership number and to date all stays have been registering in both programs. to date all the nights spent in PGR hotels and GHA have been counted putting me in a space where i have black PGR (10 stays) but still Plat in GHA (need 30 plus nights).

the bit i cant seem to get past is the fact i can walk into a GHA hotel with my black PGR card and supposedly get all the benefits of a GHA black status holder, why not status match the programs?

with the hilton pan pacific (old hilton SW) up and running soon, ill be interested in the outcome with my next stay. will i be treated like a plat (as per my status in the GHA program) or as a black as per my PGR status card.

the fact they are both under the Disocovery program banner i cant see why the night qualification is different. it not a complaint as the 10 stays with PGR is easy to hit in most cases when compared to the 30 nights in GHA. Couple that with the fact there are plenty of cheap hotels in the PGR program and the upside is huge.

If I go to the Discovery home page (not the PGR account page) and log in with my Rydges number and password, it shows that I am 'Black R--------', with the expiry date underneath.

So same status but different account numbers even though I have only qualified through the PGR program.

It will be interesting to see how things PAN out in Melbourne.:)

This is why i find the program confusing, seems to be differing experiences for members how the PGR status flows through to the GHA program.

if i could find a way where my black flows from PGR to GHA I'd be happy

I recently achieved PGR Black but my GHA Discovery account was still showing Platinum.
A quick email to PGR and my GHA account is now Black ready for my PP Melbourne stay later this week :).

I booked via GHA and I believe you will receive GHA benefits (if you click the PP link on the Rydges website you are taken to GHA anyway).

had you hit over 30 stays with the GHA program?

No, I have only had 15 stays (Rydges and Parkroyal) according to my Discovery account.

This is part of the reply I received from PGR when I queried upgrading my GHA status to black:
"We are in communication with GHA Discovery to amend your account status." etc
