Lexus 600 HL with 40,000 KMs and 2 years old. This is my second one.
Mrscove has the Lexus 450 Hybrid and that is her second one.
We are both happy with Lexus.

Thanks Plant I have had it for 2 years and it is loaded with stuff I would rarely use seeing the first owner puts on every conceivable extra. He takes cash rather than Woolies or Coles discount cards which is a bit sad.
The only car we have personally with a debt on it was bought for the olds. It is a Toyota Camry where it came with a 4 year interest free deal from Toyota Finance. I could not get $3,000 off for cash so we had to buy it that way with the interest free deal. All they charged was a tiny bailment fee.
In our business we run quite a few Holden's and I can tell you I know why they are ceasing the manufacturing of cars in Australia.....they cannot make them to our requirements.

I am looking at buying a Toyota Corolla Sports - my last car was a Toyota (or based on the some of the comments above re depreciation my second thought was a Subaru hatch). We are limited to remserve or one other company whose name escapes me now. Both should hold their resale value but however Subaru may have less of a depreciation? Your thoughts on this please?

Our family have never had any issues with Toyota/ Lexus over the last 2 decades so we keep with their quality. I think Subaru has been pretty reliable but the sports models seem to be favourites for car thieves in the past.

I've looked at the corolla against the i30, Mazda 3 hatch, cruze and focus, I'm landing on the Mazda as I find it more comfortable, YMMV.

I'm also with NLC and am happy to share my novated lease figures with you.

I have reclaimed the GST (via NLC) on the second hand vehicle I have novated.

Depreciation on a second hand car that is "new" to me, is the same as on a brand new car that I acquire - please feel free to check with NLC.

My post tax contribution is based on the purchase price of the car.

Would you mind explaining where you think NLC and I have it wrong?

I think you missed my point. See post number 23.

I'm in a Subaru diesel Outback which has been very reliable in the fours years I've had it from new, aside from a quick recall to do with a seat fitting from memory. A lot of people seem to think they're ugly cars which maybe helps deter thieves? Personally I love it, especially with the turbo scoop on top. Mrs Garrett is driving it mostly right now for safety of bub, but I'll be getting it back in the near future. It's been perfect for my fishing and kayaking adventures and will have to stay so for at least another couple of years, since Mrs G refuses to entertain my dreams of moving onto a dual cab ute.

Subaru tend to hold their value reasonably well. Mine needs a clean but is fine mechanically and cosmetically so I expect it will return me a decent trade-in figure when the time comes.

Perhaps you can give an example? As you can see from numerous other posters, the real value for novated leases is in the nearly new vehicle. Saves FBT, interest cost etc.
