Hi there ... Can anyone help and tell me the difference between the Samsonite Cosmolite and the Cosmolite FL ? Advantage of either? Thanks :)

I have been told the new FL is lighter and has had upgrades to some components providing greater strength. Very similar though.

apparently in the older version of cosmolite, the zipper can easily be broken and case crack.

anyone can confirm if the newer version (dubbed 'FL') has improved on this?

Well, I took the plunge, and bought the new Cosmolite FL ... and it has survived long haul to the UK and back. The zip is protected by an outer layer which is good. The case itself is scuffed but intact, and it's probably a good idea to fill it to its absolute limit, as when I picked it up after one of the flights, one half was slightly pushed inside the other which looked odd. So the fuller it is, I guess the likelihood is that won't happen. Very happy with it though, and SO easy to push around, very smooth.

I have had a Cosmolite case for about 3 to 3.5 years now - I am sure there are better but mine has endured 270 -300 segments in that time - it is plenty scuffed but still going strong. I had one of the post head screws work loose and fall off a wheel essentially meaning one side of the wheels axel disappeared. I emailed the Samsonite customer care department and without even needing to provide proof of purchase I was sent a complete replacement set of 4 wheel assembly's and thy were waiting to be picked up when I returned home from my trip. Due to this experience, when I needed another case recently (2 actually) I went for more of the Cosmolite ones as I now have spare wheels that fit all of the different sizes. The wheels on the FireLite do look to be a better design to me and if I were starting from scratch and wanted this type of case I would choose a FL. The down side of the Cosmolite (and the FL) case for me is that they don't nest.
