Hi all.

We need an SF hotel for 1 Saturday night early Feb before we head down the Pacific coast. Ideally 5 star, small-ish, not necessarily in downtown (having already been there a week before), and with car parking.

Any thoughts gratefully accepted.

Claremont Hotel in Berkeley :)

Awesome views of the city from across the bay!!

I like the Villa Florence or The Chancellor both on Powell St, valet parking is extra (of course) My preference is the Chancellor although not 5 star, just like the service.

If you can why not drive down to Santa Cruz.

Matt

Thanks Matt & dfcatch

I would like to head south - Santa Cruz would be great. But we have a scheduled arrival from Vancouver at 6.23 pm, so by the time we get bags, get car, etc - its all getting a bit late to go too far. And I don't want to have to drive on the wrong side of the road, in the dark, for too long!!

Any other suggestions much appreciated.

According to Expedia, the 5-star hotels it found were located in the city. If you wanted to consider 4-star hotels, there are several chains (Westin, Hyatt Regency, Hilton, etc) that have hotels located in Millbrae/Burlingame which are only 3-4 kms from SFO.

I am flying into SFO this Sunday and flying out to HNL Monday morning so I have booked one night at the Clarion which is right on the edge of SFO. If you're into plane spotting most of these Millbrae/Burlingame hotels provide great views of 28L/28R landings. Preferably while sipping a coughtail at the bar

Another advantage of staying in this area is if you are heading south when you depart the hotel, you will avoid commute traffic heading into the city. Oops, nevermind this last bit. I just realised your stay was going to be on a Saturday night.
