Santiago-Sydney classic awards apparently don't exist anymore?

Cove, that is an epic journey! How old are your boys? Probably young enough to stand the long, long haul haha! I managed to get Sydney-Auckland-Santiago business class using FF points and would very much like to organise the return. Perhaps I'm just stubborn but I refuse to believe there are no seats available, but I do believe qantas and Lan have screwed something up and don't know how to fix it or aren't aware of the issue.

Paultiffen I'm unsure if I can book on the Lan website using qantas FF program? My flight Sydney to Santiago is Lan codeshare but is it possible to cross-book FF programs? In any event LAN haven't released availability for paid flights up to 11th July yet.

Yes we tried so many different ways. Dubai,London Madrid and Johannesburg as well as Santiago were no go.
They get 3 nights in Los Angeles so they can get to some sport or shows and they like the accommodation.
At 21 and 27 they are about as grown up as sons get and they are getting smarter with their travelling plans.
Suites to LAX is my treat for them on SQ.
They will try to use US Air miles to go United in First from GRU-DFW-LAX then it might be another Suites ride to SIN.

You can use Qantas points on any oneworld partner see the reward table at Frequent Flyer - Using Points - Qantas & Partner Classic Awards - Points Tables and look for LAN. You may need to ring up to book it however

Great news. Called Qantas expected to have a drawn-out negotiation attempt and they just booked the flights! Apologized for the website problem, waived the phone booking fee and booked it. Taxes are a bit horrendous, but no harm.

Hardwired - might be worth another go? Since going back to study, I've got absolutely no status, so it wasn't VIP treatment.

Good luck all and thanks for your help.

.... Taxes are a bit horrendous, but no harm....
No Taxes are not horrendous. But the Qantas imposed carrier fees (fuel surcharges~ more profit/margin) are horrendous. Never confuse taxes with imposed carrier fees. For example AA charge real taxes but not imposed carrier fees (except on BA award flights)
