In Sapporo currently a few days in of a 16 or so day trip to Japan. An itinerary that was tentatively and optimistically planned for January 2021, however due to the obvious, it never happened.
Flew out of Perth midday-ish New Years Eve. A330-200 in economy; hopefully heading to the UK in April 26 and saving my points for that one. No way I'm sitting in the back of the bus for that flight/s. . Firstly disappointed no monitor in the seat back, Ipad instead. Worked out well, very clear quality screen, able to watch Kill Bill 2, and due to a 30-40 minute hold into Changi, also got to finish watching Dunkirk. Meal was beef and mash, not bad.
Then to an 8 hour wait for my JAL flight to Tokyo. Fortunately currently hold gold, so able to use the lounge. Impressed that they had a selection of about 5 salads, so able to have something quite light, as well as a bit of Korean style beef. Watched a bit of you tube, then headed out about 9 o'clock to get some exercise, walked the 3 terminals. Back in and had a shower to freshen up, then was in theta sort of not awake.not asleep mode for a couple of hours. Not assisted at all by little kids running around and screaming the whole time.
Lounge closes at 12, so headed out to the gate about 10 minutes beforehand. Just before the gate some bloke had his phone out and seemed pretty excited about something. Then a bit of a cheer went around;: new year apparently.
Found a space on the floor and dozed off, only to be rudely awoken by airport staff telling me to move; plane had just landed and I was going to get trampled on. No dramas, off I went closer to the gate.
Soon enough on board the JAL 767, able to sleep the first 2 hours, then watched a few episodes of Tokyo Vice in between intermittent dozing. Breakfast was a chicken noodle dish, yoghurtm fruit and a bread type thing, which I didn't touch.
On time into Haneda, extremely quick through immigration, bags out quickly and before you know it my first egg sandwich of the trip was down the hatch.
5 and a half hours before my flight to Sapporo, so a bit of an explore of Haneda's Terminal 3.
Up the escalator to the replica of Nihonbashi
Departures hall
Shops on the viewing area floor
Out on the viewing area. Bit crisp outside, still had my shorts on from the 34 degree it was when I left Perth.
The bird I came in on
Sky Tree in the distance
