Saver Awards to/from Oz appear to have dried up!

Not sure if I got lucky but received e-mail today that my waitlist can be confirmed so thankfully haven't made a separate standard booking (for peace of mind so was going to just book and pay instead of waiting for redemption).

Maybe economy seats are much easier to secure?

Congrats!

Economy is certainly easier, but once it's on waitlist not something you can predict. Good to have that out of the way early.

Still no signs of J saver back into the pool for MEL departure, will keep checking between now and deadline in hope something pops up.

I've redeemed an Economy Saver for my dad in Oct- the departure flight is on waitlist but have a confirmed for return flight... anyone with economy waitlist knows if this is risky to wait out or just pay for the flight?
There seems to be no Saver J fares anywhere into MEL.
I have tix into IST and need the return but can only see advantage. Any idea what is going n here?
Do we think this will change before (or even after 5 July?
No word from SQ

As mentioned above the likely scenario is they have been block booked hence removed from redemption list. Whether or not any will come back before points hike is anyone's guess (I think unlikely) but hopefully will have some saver fares back in after 5th July.

coolkid has also forgotten to add that ‘Reserved’ seats require no pts until actually confirmed and ticketed - Ticketing Time Limit (TTL) can also be pushed right back to virtually flt date - good luck to him and all those who have earned status - I am still and always have been way down in pecking order as basically SQ R/F/J Savers were always pretty easy to acquire when 380s had 12 Suites and 777s had 8 F - the game has now changed with halving of that stock and of course Covid decimating basically all airlines capital base

I have no problem with any decision SQ make re rdpt stock - they still are and prolly always will be best premium airline operators going around - we will need to change or at least modify our MOs to game the system going forward - sky is not falling in - if we all thought status quo would be maintained post Covid then we were all in La-La-land

I fully expected a 12month period post Covid where I would be basically buying comm tix rather than having the feast of R/F/J rdpts we enjoyed for 12 or so years pre Covid - but as always IMHO and YMMV
I thought TTL is a relatively short window if seats are available? Using my most recent redemption as example (economy, not J)- first leg was waitlisted while return leg was reserved. A couple of days later received e-mail from SQ that flight is available for confirmation with 7 days TTL before cancellation. Are you able to expand TTL?

Yippee - business savers ex-SYD now wide open at edge of booking window !! Just booked June 12.
I'm guessing you're booking one-way redemptions? It's giving me errors whenever I try a return trip at edge of booking window.

Edit: You're right J saver have also opened up ex-MEL!! Just booked two 1-way on waitlist for MEL-ICN for May'23!

Does the $100 stopover trick still apply if you've already finalised redemption booking? Can't see option of adding additional stopover to a redemption booking- can that only be done by calling up?

Yes I always book one-way as I like to book as soon as the booking window opens - I booked SYD-SIN-FRA and could only book June 12 even thought June 13 showed - this is normal IMO as I think it has to do with the date at the destination. Also I believe as part of this round of 'enhancements' SQ no longer allow the $100 stopover on one-way bookings. But when your return date opens up you can change your one-way into a return and add a free stopover - there may be fees associated with this and of course it's subject to availability.

I just logged on to say that J Savers are back out of MEL, and have noted that others have also now found this recent change.

We have booked 2 J Savers to EWR New York for mid-June 2023.

Now to get back......and to decide if we spend more time in Canada or the USA.

The free or $100 stopover is only available on round trip bookings not on one ways.
From August 1 there will be no stopovers on award flights.

Stopovers for eligible redemption bookings ticketed on or after 1 August 2022 will be limited to a maximum of 30 days. Complimentary stopovers exceeding 30 days, as well as the paid stopover option, will no longer be available with effect from 1 August 2022.

Can't find Saver F Syd-Sin-Lhr but found 2x Adv F Syd-Sin-Lhr oneway both sectors on the A380.....only catch is 275K pts x2 plus 2x a couple of hundred $ in taxes etc....so 550K points for 2 Syd-Sin-Lhr in F oneway both sectors on A380....shall I???! :) Will blow more than 25% of my points balance though...

If you really want to fly F then before I'd splash out the points I would compare the 550K for 2 each way to a paid fare - if you value your SQ points at $.025 each (say) then I suspect you can do better with a paid fare. Of course if you need to use up your points before they expire then the equation changes. (Note the $.025 is my personal guide for deciding between paid and award travel when both options are possible).

Crikey $.025 seriously hight valuation of KF pts IMHO - I basically use $.01 as base - clearly YMM and does V 👍

Well here's how I look at it - if you earn your KF points via credit card spend (as I do on Amex) - then you need to consider the merchant surcharge on Amex (which varies) plus the foreign currency exchange fee of 3% for non-AUD spend and finally the somewhat recent devaluation by Amex when transferring to KF. In fact I've pretty much stopped using Amex for foreign currency tx and use a Visa card with no fees. Of course if you earn your points via travel then the equation is totally different.
