Saver Awards to/from Oz appear to have dried up!

So shall I book CE?
kpc far be it from me to tell anyone what do with SQ rdpt bookings - as for paying R/F Adv I have done so and will continue to do so - I have no crystal ball as to what SQ will do in terms of Saver inventory going forward - it won’t be any more liberal I would have thought.

Until ALL Carriers get back to something resembling pre Covid capacity and frequency I really think SQ Adv rates will be more the norm than Savers - I hope I am wrong - again people just miss the point of halving of SQs R/F capacity - this was always going bite severely sooner or later

So should you book? If I really wanted to fly that dest and dates yes I would secure them - a Saver alt may pop up later - can always modify plans then 👍

Crikey $.025 seriously hight valuation of KF pts IMHO - I basically use $.01 as base - clearly YMM and does V 👍

Well a cent a point seems a bit low, at least for me.

ie On the old award rate 232K was a return J flight to Europe with $175 in fees.

So at 1 cent per point that is say about $2500 for a SQ J Saver Flight. Now rather than value on the cost of a SQ J flight I would look at a discount J rate (harder to get at present), but that would normally be substantially more.

The new award rates reduced that by a bit.

Though if you are now only booking at Advantage Rates that alters the equation.

In fact I've pretty much stopped using Amex for foreign currency tx and use a Visa card with no fees.
Same here. Unless there is an extra Amex inducement I use a VISA that has no fx fees for all foreign currency, plus it still earns FF points though at a lower rate.

Hey all,

I've never booked using points.

I'm looking head to Europe in May 2023.

I can find plenty of Business seats 116k points to Paris, Frankfurt, London.

I notice there's First Class from Singapore but it's wait list and 129k points.

It would be close to 200k 1 way aka business to Singapore, then First Europe.

Is that high? It feels so confusing using the website, do people call the airline and book through the phone?

I have expiring points, so I would like to use them.

P.S. I found Melbourne to Europe, 163k each way but it's a waitlist.

I'm also finding it difficult to see what's the best way to get to either Seattle/Boston return.

Thank you for any help.

This might not be the best thread to ask advice on this particulate query. But I recommend booking business class saver - don't wait list. If your destination is Seattle - then search SYD-SEA; if it's Boston search SYD-JFK/EWR. It seems you want to get to Europe and USA - this will take multiple awards.

Different trips.

I wasn't sure about waitlist, considering it's so far away.

Thank you

I just managed to book 2 x J Saver from Sydney to Amsterdam in May 2023.
Now just to work out how to secure those illusive A380 double bed business class seat rows!

Well done. I'm hoping to do the same flight for September 2023 in either direction depending on what scraps QF offers up in the other direction.

I just booked ADL-LHR business saver in May,
however the return in June I could only manage DXB-PER business saver.
I managed to get a KLM AMS-DXB business class using Qantas points and I’ll buy domestic flight to get home from Perth.

One issue I found is that there is a huge layover on my return, 17 hours in Singapore.

Thankfully it's 7am-11pm or something so I'll spend the day in Singapore.

Do business lounges have a shower? 😂

Yes the Singapore business lounge showers are epic. Also the warm seated toilets there which will play you music while you go about your business and then deodorise the cubicle shortly after.

Good luck. I’ve found as long as you are open to flying in/out of different ports it should be doable. I’m based in melb but seemed like sydney to europe via Singapore had more availabilities.

On the way back I’m probably looking at Doha to Melb in business then paying for the europe to Doha option!

I can find velocity business via SQ ex Perth only for May 2023. Not ideal, but I guess not as bad as Qantas.

I can't find any business classic rewards with any QF partner at all even 12 months out to Europe, which is a real problem because I have 550k points there....

Probably will have to fork out until 2H'23.

Have you tried changing your point of departure to a different nearby city ?

My friend just booked via QFF.

Canberra to KL, Doha - London - Paris
Amsterdam - Doha - Sydney

All business.

Yes TTL can be extended basically to day of dep - but you will need to call to do so
I had one J waitlist redemption booking that came through and was looking to extend TTL so rang up SQ. Was advised that this option is no longer available as they had a change in policy. Not sure if this "policy" differs depending on your KF member status but understand why they would change it in the current climate!

Moderators: I suggest that TTL (ticketing time limit) be added to the Abbreviations list.
