Saver Awards to/from Oz appear to have dried up!

Seems like there's plenty of premium economy SQ on the velocity website for next year. Does anyone know if you book that way, can you then pay for a business upgrade?

Surprise, surprise, now that the price increase has happened I'm seeing (a limited amount of) Business Saver availability again on routes like SYD-SIN...

And with 68k KF points to SIN, KF program doesn't look as good as before. Of course, QF isn't competitive either given their recent customer service stuff ups on award tickets. So most people would still stick with KF for now...

What's the difference booking via Velocity? I assume requires more points?

There's some first class availability on one of my legs, but my trip was 236k business. The leg Singapore -Paris is 225k for first alone.

If it was a 30-50k upgrade I'd do it!

Points cost won't change come 5 October but there'll be a payment per segment from then.

Searched for F/R Savers from Europe (FRA,ZRH,CDG,LHR) this morning to SIN or MEL for end June '23 but not one seat available - everything Waitlist only except for SQ 305, the 0900 LHR-SIN flight. Plenty of J availability it seems (from a limited search). Hopefully I'll be able the clear one flight in due course. I'd rather not come out of LHR due to the taxes and the early arrival time of that flight into SIN but maybe I'll have to take what I can get.

FWIW it might be increasingly status dependent with the recent changes.. More so than before. I'm not looking to book anything but can see fair bit of availability

I've had a quick look to compare with your experiences @mel-world and @coolkid101. I see Saver available for waitlist for nearly all flights in June, but few confirmed seats. Advantage is another story though.

I do see that SQ 305/SQ 217 is available for Saver redemption on 8 and 25 June and SQ 325/SQ 237 on 8 June, but didn't notice any other dates or flight combinations during my brief search.

My bad I didn't read your post correctly. I missed out "saver". 🤦‍♂️.

My mistake too - plenty of Advantage awards available - same today but similar scarcity of F/R Saver awards. Given the present 'post-Covid' loads to Europe this summer and airport difficulties throughout the world, I guess the days of Saver F/R availibility on all routes will be quite limited so only frequent flyers with many miles to burn will be able to avail themselves of Awards, at least for now.

I booked J SYD-SIN-MUC for 4 for late June next year just before the devaluation. This morning I checked if I can move the dates of the flight on Saver award, even if I keep the same flight numbers. The system asked for an additional 58K to change the date (ie the difference between old and new rates). So it looks like any changes to the ticket will incur additional miles based on the new table.

Looks like they are showing the new updated miles 58,500 but when I click change, it's free of charge and it automatically adjusted to the old rates/miles.

I booked 53,000 miles for 2 people which equal to 106,000 miles.

I've made a simple redemption booking in J one way Europe-SIN-MEL for May next year and would like to change the date to early July when that date becomes available (I ticketed this booking at the old pre deval rates, fortunately).
Nothing complicated about this booking, it's all SQ, no stopover or infants, nothing that adds layers of complexity.

However, the "Change Flights" option in MMB (which is used for changing dates and/or destinations) is greyed out and directs me to contact SQ.

Anyone else been through this and know what could be causing this?

I've previously had redemptions where date changes were easy and self-serve without needing the rigmarole of waiting on hold etc.

Thanks!!

For me I am on Business Saver, it said that I need extra 58K miles in the equivalent screen when I requested a simple date change.

Not really that surprising. Why should not Kris Flyer charge at the updated rates when you want to change the date

Because they indicated they would not do so when they announced the changes - see this link, or if that does not work the attached PDF:

If I make changes to my ticketed redemption booking on or after 5 July 2022, which mileage level will apply?

Changes to flight date on or after 5 July 2022 will not require additional miles.

For example, a member has an Economy Saver redemption ticket issued before 5 July 2022 from Singapore to Bangkok for travel on 1 September 2022.

Member may change his flight date to 15 September 2022 after 5 July 2022 without paying additional miles*, provided award type and itinerary remains unchanged.

Other changes made to the itinerary on or after 5 July 2022 will be calculated based on the revised award levels.

For example, a member has an Economy Saver redemption ticket issued before 5 July 2022 from Singapore to London for travel on 1 September 2022.

After 5 July 2022, member would like to change his routing from Singapore to Paris. The miles required for the change in routing will be calculated based on the revised award levels.

*Additional service fee of USD 25 of 2,500 KrisFlyer miles will apply for selected services rendered offline by an Singapore Airlines office or reservations hotline.

Are you sure there was Saver availability for the number of tickets you were looking to change to? I needed to check this before changing a date this morning that went through on-line with no added miles required. There seems to be some flights with only one Saver seat released at the moment. Look for one seat, you can see Saver availability, but increase that to a couple flying together, it changes to WL Saver or to Advantage only.

Yes. It asked me to pay additional 58k miles (4 * (130500 - 116000)) for 4 of us to move dates for our Business Saver tickets. It is definitely not Advantage rates. Mute point for me though as I rang the contact center and they changed the date of our award ticket for free (posted on another thread).

Does anyone know if there is more award availability booking via krisflyer compared to velocity?

Tossing up whether I should convert points.

Depends when you want to travel and where to.
