Has anyone thought of using Jetstar for status credit runs?

Star Class earns Business SC and jetflex seems to earn full economy SC!

This could mean alot more gold and plat QFF.. hmm

I wonder if QFF will raise the SC levels for GOLD and PLAT.

Any thoughts??

Yes, it has been discussed here several times as a good value SC run for those chasing a few more SCs.

Has there been much discussion regarding the potential increase in SG/WP numbers if more people get SCs on Jetstar?

Methinks any potential increase would be minimal; most FTers would use tickets like DONEs to maintain status.

The best $$$ per SC's I can find on Starclass seem to come in at around 6.

A DONE4 i have just completed came in at 3.5.

Stop suggesting this!!!!! I cannot get to SG, I am generally 120 short and with my flight patterns I would find it difficult to re-qualify for AA Plt, but easy to get on the platinum challenge.
I will be looking at a couple of ATW flights for the next few years, one each year so I hope that the current levels stay the same, I would not kid myself that they would go down. It would take a lot of JQ flights, well maybe a few JQ Starclass, to reach an elite level but I guess QF would like that people would choose one of their airlines instead of AA for a status run. I guess that I am realistic on my status, PS, and I really doubt that the benefits over the cost of trying to get SG or even WP would cover the costs, especially after taking all that time to find Mrs Altair the loss would be too much.....

Apologies for that - I do fall into that weird (maybe not so weird) flyer that I have lumpy travel - some years very lumpy so my status will most likely hover between WP and PS (if I wasnt doing the AAdv thing). Because I dont do frequent (or even infrequent) discount travel my points earning is polarised between huge and nuffink.

I dont think that there is necessarily any impetus to change the qualification limits as even if more people qualify then it just reflects increased travel.

How on earth did you get those figures?

Apologies, I meant $, rather than ¢.

With JQ, simply travel Starclass to an international destination from a Major Oz Domestic port that has no JQ International flights.

With my DONE4; it was routed: cmb-hkg-nrt-HKG-AKL-MEL-PER-CNS-MEL,syd-lhr-DXB-lhr-lax-dfw-sea-dfw-anc-dfw-jfk-hkg-cmb

(Note that the SWP routing is no longer valid; simply replace the MEL-PER-CNS-MEL bit with CBR-PER-CNS-MEL for the same SC's.)

What fare did you use for AUS-CMB and CMB-AUS?

The former 50K QFF award (via SIN) and the latter a combination of a $360 one-way CMB-HKG with ½ a $1087 MEL-HKG-MEL flight.

I had intended to pick up and commence a new trip rather than CMB-zOx but circumstances prevented that.

Note the raw $/SC cost for the fare was less than 3; the 3½ figure includes other positioning costs.

So your repositioning was done in whY?

The DONE4 is a very good return Ross! StarClass is good but you have to travel JQ!

For me it is easier to go to a place in SE Asia, which I visit 2-3 times a year anyway, and from there travel to other places in SE Asia in business class @ ~$4/SC.

I will make WP in a few months for a fraction of the cost you spend on DONE4 but you see a lot more of the globe in your travels.

It is all right. I have seen some people say it is too easy to attain WP. Well it probably is if you do not have to pay or find time to do xONEx trips but there are many who have to fly whY, even if they are not paying for it and it is considered "discount economy". I may not be the most frequent of flyers, one return trip every two to three weeks in whY, if it was in J class I would easily be WP but of course I make PS with a tease of SG, to make it would cost the equivalent of two years of QP which I do not think justifies it.;)

Partly; I spent some of the 152,000 QFF I earned in upgrading HKG-MEL.

The DONE4 ex CMB cost juat over 8000 and earned plenty of SC's. It gained me WP and will keep me there for another year. I could have gone MCT/BOM instead of DXB/NRT for another 40 SC's.

A well planned DONE4 will almost be enough to requalify WP for 2 years (quite likely based on QF´s current relaxed attitude to requalifying), even without any further flying.

I actually have a travel profile that would be great for DONE4 flights (2-3 J class SYD-US/UK/Eur per year) and would guarantee me Exec PLat on AA - if I could actualy afford the time away.

Well I just have to quote myself.
I think it is too easy to attain "status" on this forum....50 posts and that makes you a Senior Member? 100, I really want to know which one that was for me...and I am a posting freak???? Well maybe addicted but it is slow on my project at the moment....;)
I would like to have these tiers adjusted.
