🤣🤣🤣

Was there something in particular that made you suspicious?

Looks sorta like real legit mate.

Received a genuine email from AussieBroadBand today warning about scams. Now I could be wrong but aren't they telling the scammers how to write a better email?
Phishing emails not ABB - Be aware!
Hi Prozac,
We have noticed an increase in phishing emails to customers claiming to be Aussie Broadband.
With your safety in mind, we wanted to reach out, ask you to be careful, and go over some important reminders when opening emails.
As a rule of thumb – Do not click anything you are unsure about.
If you are worried about anything in the email, e.g., failed payment, please call us instead of clicking on a suspicious link.
Even if the email looks very convincing with similar green branding, logo, and tone to the email, be on the lookout for tell-tale signs that show it is not authentic. This includes:
  • We will never use the greeting “Dear subscriber”. We generally like to say “Hi [your name]” and “Cheers,” instead of “Dear” and “Kind Regards”
  • We are not Aussie Broadband Pty Ltd. Our legal entity is Aussie Broadband Limited
  • If you are on your desktop computer, when you hover your mouse over the link, it shows a link that is not ours
    etc. ....

Got a weird message from an AU mobile number this week - raunchy & inviting message with a couple of unmentionable pics! Deleted immediately and blocked the number. This is the first time I'm getting such a text message. It is usually on whatsapp where I get these stuff

may be some secret admirer trying to get in touch with you ;)

on a serious note , now a days always good to block any text/call from unknown numbers.

Well quite a good haul today. No more iPhones but 2 sets of Le Creuset, a Niga premium knife set and a Dyson vacuum cleaner.
Problem is I can't remember entering any competitions.

The problem with blocking all unknown numbers is that genuine callers cannot get through to you. Doctors, pharmacies, restaurants. Outgoing calls are not necessarily from the known number.

This continues to be a real pita as I no longer answer the home landline and mobile only contacts..
There are folks I would choose to speak to which can be quite inconvenient , eg in emergencies.
The settings also beget some quite antsy folks both personal and business who consider they have a right to converse now…I respond that I check emails every few hours.. whats the rush….
The system or the process needs work

I love this one that ends with sympathy

I must start reading some of my junk mail!

At last, CBA is introducing its " NameCheck" technology. Far from foolproof but I think will save some people from scams.Hopefully other banks to follow.
The present system of requiring online banking transfer to include a payee name, which banks then ignore, I think tricks people into thinking it would bounce if it doesn't go to that account name.
