Scams like these

In a recent email, from a domain .sbs, a "warning" (((We have known each other for a long time, and I must report that...))).
I just know that its that I will be held up to ransom, blocked and deleted.
I have no friends, none.

Scamwatch released a number of TV ads (TVCs) this week encouraging viewers to think twice. The campaign is "Stop, Check, Protect", production by the brilliant team at Revolver Film Design. I provided locations (but nothing creative) for "Steve" and "Mei Chen" shorts plus the green-screen studio. I think there are more to come.

Hello dear

I know you will be surprised reading from me today but consider this a divine intervention. My name is Donna Thayer, widow with stage 4 cancer.

I saw your email in my search for someone I can trust to assist and utilize the proceeds realized from my estates and investments for charity, basically helping the less privileged, widows and orphans because according to the doctors my days are numbered.

I desire to entrust this amount of money in your care and It is my last wish to use this money strictly for charity hence seek a sincere heart to actualize this as my health no longer permits me.

I am willing to give you a substantial part of the funds for your personal and family needs so reply to my email ([email protected]) and give me your word never to betray my trust. I have to rest now and will explain further when I hear from you.

God bless you,

Donna Thayer.

Fake Australia Post page for those claiming to have made a payment on places like marketplace, Australia Post don’t do those sort of payments

Facebook Marketplace scam

Published date: 26 September 2024.
Updated 17 January 2025.

Platform: Facebook Marketplace

Key message: The scammer pretends to be an interested buyer and sends a fake link and/or a QR code to the seller. Clicking on the link would take the seller to a fraudulent Australia Post site to ‘receive money’ for the item.

Objective: Stealing payment card details
A screenshot of a fake Australia Post tracking page. It shows a tracking number, delivery status as pending, and a prompt to enter payment details to release the package. The page includes Australia Post logos and branding to appear legitimate.

Ive noticed roughly 80-90% of spam messages aka ATO, mygov, nrma, et al, all come a variety of email addresses that are all hosted a singular domain

@weinlove.de

Going to block that domain with my email provider and that should rid me of most spam.
I agree, though the email domains can be inconsistent and are usually well-camouflaged. I report them either to Scam Watch or Outlook reporting.

I'm finding an increasingly large number of legit sites having a pop-up onscreen which looks like a chat session, with WhatsApp in the header of the pop-up. The reason I know they're scam links is because some of them have text like "Do you like my body?" or similar, although others have nondescript stuff like "What what" or "Heya!" or similar.

I'm wondering it that stuff is within one of the ad services, and whether maybe that sort of thing will start appearing on the free version of AFF. :)

thought I would post on here as well.
