Question - is there a thread or FAQ anywhere which lists under what scenarios you need to call Qantas for your booking?

I'm looking to book a very tentative booking for a big family trip with toddlers on EK or BA through the Qantas website, probably with cash no rewards, but Ive heard so many horror stories lately with Qantas customer service that I don't want to do it unless I can make booking changes myself online (it highly likely I might need to change cities, dates and partner carriers)

What types of voluntary changes to itinerary does Qantas allow you to make online if it's not Qantas metal?

What about if there are involuntary changes?

Thanks!

Register with BA as a family or as an individual and book with them.. At present i would not touch qantas specially with kids. Qantas cancel my daughters return flight to london and she was flying with a 12 month baby.. At the end BA gave her business flight to london via Vancouver. Qantas took 6 months for the refund.

Time and date changes. Route changes can't happen online, unless you cancel for a voucher and start again.

HSB, My suggestion is go via an agent if it is complex. Your questions suggest that this is the safest way to go. There are vey experienced agents here in aff.
If it is important to the family and your mental health get assistance.

In that case was her original booking on Qantas metal or British metal?

Agree with ausfox. A travel agent would be a great way to go - they do the work (including get a solution to any issues), can make changes easier than the public etc etc. It MAY cost you a bit more (but probably not) but in the current environment, it will be peace of mind.

If you need recommendations, PM me. By TA, we don't mean Flight Centre types.

Or consider going with another airline if you really want to DIY (seriously ..)
