You may not be able to obtain the advertised prices as the POLI option did not work for me today, plus they whacked me for a $17 Changi airport fee does seem unreasonable. I have reported the glitch to them, before ACCC has to prod them into action. The revamped website is infuriating and will add $100's of extras by default if you don't take necessary action.

Promo code: SCOOTON (saves about$20 each way)

Got the email but didn't think particularly special versus Scoot's normal offerings...

Also hate that they don't list dates in the email

The best deals are over :-( I ,manged a SYD-DMK return for AUD $375 but have a pending charge of $443, though I have been told I was double charged $34 for credit card processing! And you bet they don't want to refund but credit! Scootitude Wah!

I lodged an ACCC complaint after an evasive complaint response, - testing revealed SCOOT appear to have implemented a one way trapdoor flag setting that removes the POLi option if you do not use it when first presented. The BACK or previous key will not work if you don't pay POLi first time - or try the back key when noticing and extra $30 or so surcharge tacked onto the usual CC take of 0.95=1.25% take. I don't understand 'Scootitude' with such premeditated design. Like VW, maybe rouge programmers are responsible. Of course there in nothing about POLi option in their FAQ yet.

After that Promo, Air Asia is offering the better deals. I have some hilarious noncompetitive prices from AirCebu. I am happy that they are apparently overbooked and running at 99% load factor in November. Gotta love competition.

I have read Scoot will not refund tickets, even in the event of flight cancellation! Although those reports were from pax buying tickets and originating for travel in Asia.

Scoot won't be allowed to sell tickets ex AU with a blanket 'no refund' policy. If a flight is cancelled they would have to refund your money under AU consumer laws.

My scoot CC transaction said SCOOT PTE L MiGSSMA1.6.0 AUSTRALIA and I appear to be charged TWO CC transaction fees for one transaction; not one + one reversal. Giving the money back wont be enough- they can explain it to VISA who could choose to audit their online payment portal at their cost.

On insolvency or Chapter whatever - Similar for AirAsia, but it is clear each leg is with a different company/host country, not the master holding company. Given that Australians mostly miss out on all those Asian language specials, it is reasonable that they dont get here today gone tomorrow shafting.

Tiger Airways is another trust disaster - they do not look after you when they cancel on leg of a return journey. Maybe they do or dont, but I think most Australians not give em the miss because of bad rap. Pity because the Singapore legs were more just and fair with a bit of slack, rather than the heartless MEL T4 attitude. It appears HK Tiger PAX rarely book again if 'stung'

Anyway, keep and eye on SYD-LAX for $100+chump change return on Air NZ.

Still no reply from Scoot or ACCC.
I can't figure out why Scoot's website wanted $17 for a Scoot-thru when there was 21 HOURS before the connecting flight - even when given booking screenshots. Hopefully the will twig on that their website partner has bugs.

Melbourne launches Sunday so keep an eye out for crazy sale fares.

with Qantas doing HKG 6XX, Cathay was doing HKG for 6XX, Taiwan, Korea, Japan and China for 7XX,
you have rocks in your head if you still fly Scoot to go somewhere else via SIN with Scoot.

When Qantas is on sale, as it is now, then they are better value than Scoot's normal prices ;) However when Scoot is on sale - it blows Qantas/Cathay out of the water. We have flown to several destinations in Asia for $300 return. That said, we don't need to carry the kitchen sink, woops luggage, more luggage and golf clubs I meant. We have flown to SYD-MNL for $149 return with Cebu Pacific - now Qantas currently has sale fares of $699 for the same route. No rocks in my head, yet ;) Now I hope JohnK doesn't see this post because he will want to debate it until the cows come home.

Loved the last comment, for me it's another option that should be considered but you do need to consider the on costs (as you imply). Suits some, doesn't suit others. The fact it does or doesn't suit you doesn't mean you are special and should try and convince others, it just means your circumstances are different and ultimately we should make our own decisions!

we should make our own decisions!

when Scoot first started flying I flew several times with them, their first plane has great seat pitch, however as they roll out their other planes (old SQ 777), I realised that they drop the seat pitch !

also they land about 8pm in SIN, by that time most LCC connecting flights to Asia are gone already, and you need to pay for 1 night's accommodation in SIN which erases any savings, or camp airside in the airport.... extra unnecessary transit nights = unnecessary leave....

and then you add the bags, and food, there is not much difference.... I miss the AUD 199 SYD SIN, and the AUD 130 SIN to SYD late departures.... Say all LCCS charge AUD 30 for a bag, 4 legs = $120...

We all make different decisions on our personal needs and that's all cool :)

I will always be thankful for Low Cost Carriers as they're the ones who have brought in new competition, with often much cheaper fares, which in turn makes other established airlines reduce their prices too. It's a win-win to the flyer regardless of who they choose to fly :)

Scoot is all good, the issue is I have visited Singapore too many times, and hotels in Singapore charge Norway prices... so use it to transit to other countries is not that convenient...
having said that, if you have a friend to stay with etc it is surely workable.
