Mallaig doesn't have a lot going for it - there are a lot of day trippers that come in on the steam train. I caught the ferry from Mallaig to Armadale on the Isle of Skye ....
When did you travel and did you have to prebook the ferry?
Im guessing the mid-day crowds are the bus tour groups, which is why early morning/late arvo is always good. We've got 2 nights booked at the Eileen Doonan Cottage (opposite castle) but thanks for the lookout info, will tell hubby
