SC's on this BA flight?

Per the Qantas website on partner accrual, yes you will earn status credits and points for any British Airways (BA) marketed flight provided of course the flight is booked into a fare that corresponds to an earning category:

Indeed, this is a rarity in the program as only QF, BA and AA allow you to collect status credits and points irrespective of who is operating the flight. And for those about to raise their hands and say, it's silent on codeshares, well that's the point. If codeshares were excluded they would have said something about it as is the case with Alaska Airlines for instance:

To your second point which is how many points you'll earn, realize that the points calculator tool is not infallible. There are many routes for which it cannot calculate things like status credits such or calculates them incorrectly. For these instances you need to refer to Qantas' point and status credit accrual table. Before using the table, identify which earn category you are booked into. For instance a G fare on BA would correspond to a Discount Economy fare. Now looking at the tables you'll notice that there is no specific carve out for flights within Western Europe. So you'll need to refer to the all other flights table which uses the distance flown to calculate points and status credit accrual. Now the flight from Dublin (DUB) to Birmingham (BHX) covers a distance of 200 miles per GCMap:

Supposing the flight was booked into discount economy, this will earn you a grand total of 5 status credits and 50 Qantas Points as it sits in the distance band of 101 to 250 miles:

Hope that helps.

Many thanks! I've no idea what the earn category is so will have to wing it and see I think - the booking confirmation has no info.

OK finally found out that my DUB-BHX is S - so 5 SC's, and PRG-LHR-DUB is going to get me 10+10 SC's
Operated by BA or IE with BA flight number(marketed), but noting post 20 above
IE AerLingus is not a OW airline or a QF ff partner

I suspect not - generally to earn status credits on partners, both the operating and marketing carrier need to be a oneworld airline. Aer Lingus (the operating carrier) is not a member of oneworld so you wouldn't earn status credits for this flight.

I don't think you'd earn points either since Aer Lingus is no longer a Qantas partner.
When are the flights? Let us know the result

Last day of Feb - will let everyone know the outcome - and how long it takes to credit!

Sadly POUG's were "enhanced" some months ago.
Now that I've booked the flights I might look at upgrade options to see if I can snare some extra SC's just in case my maths is wrong - currently with everything that I have booked I am at 1402 SC's - so make platinum by just two SC's if the math is right. Do I just pull up the booking and see if they are offering any upgrades and then see what bucket they are offering?

Depending on the upgrade method and the airline policy upgrades can credit at the orignal fare class or the higher fare class. Buying the business class flight would assure the earn.

2 SC is close. When does your QF ff year end? 28 Feb?

My QFF year ends 30 April, but I have no other travel worth doing other than what is already booked, and status runs out of BWT to MEL aren't good value :)

I will have a play on the BA website and see what it offers.

Go to manage manage booking online or in the BA app and there should be an “Upgrade” option along with Seat selection etc.

If you select and pay the amount, you’ll be upgraded immediately to “Club”. But the booking becomes “inflexible” ie no cancellation or further changes (AFAIK).

In my experience the amount doesn’t vary eg a recent booking LGW-AGP was £90 6 mths out through to checkin (but they could obviously run out of seats - although on that flight, they just keep moving the curtain back to increase the “Club” cabin).

However, I’ve not found anything to confirm these upgrades have gone back to crediting as Business. So there’s a risk they’re booking into “U” (a Classic Reward category) and QF awards 0 SCs / points, and you’ll have to chase up the Economy earn you initially paid for.

Cheers SYD - hopefully I will be able to see what the upgrade will be booked into before confirming!

No, pretty sure there’s no “distinguishing marks or features” but report back if you try.

Do make sure you have a record of the existing flights booked. If it doesn’t show fare bucket maybe another website does eg rj.com?

I’d be nervous about missing out on SCs (unless I had sufficient time to chase them up or fly more).

POUG's would not show up unti; 48 hours after booking.

See here for a FlyerTalk guide on them ...

Note also that AerLingus don't have EuroBiz on narrow bodies (other than the 321neo which has lie flat).
They have something called AerSpace but I believe that's Row 1 only.. and no idea how that might actually credit to BA or QF.

So I suspect best chance at a POUG is on the PRG-LHR leg

It is certainly looking that way - nothing currently available on PRG-LHR-DUB, and when I tried to upgrade either of the LHR-BLQ and DUB-BHX it went to a FAQ page.
