I've read on the site that VFF Platinums can access row 3 on domestic 737, and that this row is basically reserved for plats. Does anyone know which rows are reserved for which status - ie Plats, Gold, Silver - for the 737s and A330s?

As a SG I can always access row 6 and back on the 737. Although I've gotten row 5 trans Tasman through the call centre before!

I guess it depends on the flight & who is on it. Last week, I got row 6 MEL - DRW & row 3 DRW - MEL. I'm silver.

Yes I've recently become Gold but made a booking when silver so wondering whether the forward seats are now available.

T-48 when check-in is available I find.. On ntl-Mel on fri and can choose row 4 with a heavy load..

Don't forget WPs can preselect row 1/2 on routes that don't sell J class at booking time :)

VA has economy seating segregated by status. It depends on your status when you book the flight that determines which rows are available to you.

For domestic, VA WP/ The club members can select any seat on the plane within their class. SG can select any seat in the cabin but not beyond row 6 (i.e. row 5 to row 3), and PS can select any seat up to row 9. Passengers with no status can select seats up to row 12. In all cases the selection of exit row seats will incur a charge of $25, less being assigned at the counter/OLCI.

For international 77W services, Club, WP, SG and PS members have a selection of the first 4 rows in Y and first 2 rows in W, with the exception of Club and WP members who can select row 5 in J.

Just went to OLCI for a flight MEL-BNE (booked today). No love for this WP - 12B and it won't let me change it!!!! Expert Flyer shows 5D as available. I think a phone call is in order in the morning.

did you select your seat during booking?

I can only ever get row 7 as a SG on the 737. At OLCI 48 hours before I can usually get 3 if available but it usually isn't so I get 4 or 5.

No - flights are booked by work via a 3rd party booking service. VFF number is in the booking though. Normally I would ring the call centre as soon as my booking advice comes through to secure decent seats, but figured it was so late, I would wait till T-48 for this flight. A possible complication is that it is the 2nd leg of a day trip - I OLCI'd for the morning BNE-MEL leg earlier (but outside the T-48 for the return) and could select my seat for the outbound leg. Assumed (naturally) that when I OLCI for the return I could also select a seat, but no.

As Gold when I call to seat select after booking (through Corporate agent), majority of the time I can get row 5.

If I am on a flexi or fly ahead and change in the lounge row 3 is made available if free.

I could be wrong but I thought it was rows 3-7 for WP, 7-15 for SG, at time of booking. It's been a while since I flew Y though

I can confirm this, going from red - silver in the last few months, and with a friend who went from gold - plat. I can only book 9, but upon check in can choose from anything 5 and back (usually 6C).

The selection can vary by route, but IME, it seems for most flights, rows 3-6 are blocked at booking for all but WP.

I reaaaaaally don't think there are 13 rows of premium status pax boarding each flight!

Can WP select Row 5 on the 777's at the time of booking? I'm hoping to get my J seats booked before my status drops down to SG.

If this is not possible what are the chances of a SG snagging Row 5? Ring up a few days beforehand and beg? I wouldnt want to risk waiting until I get to the airport!

2 day before online check in - most of the cabin (except 3) is available on 747, so i imagine something similar with 777

Yes, row 5 is available to select when booking with WP status.

I'm VFF Gold recently booked a flight CNS-BNE-MEL as a flexi fare. I couldn't choose anything in row 3-5. I rang up after I booked and asked if I could select seat 3A on both flights and it was done.
