Seat Allocation on SQ with VA Codeshare

I have a booking made via Expedia on a VA codeshare on an SQ flight.

Is there any way to allocate seats online?

Expedia says Allocated at Checkin
VA website displays the booking with basically no details, not even flight times.
SQ website doesn't recognise the VA ticket or booking number.

SQ will allow seat allocations only if booking is made via SQ website. Even KrisGold pax cannot make seat allocations if booked through TA. You may be able to make seat aloocations within 48 hours of the flight if you so online check-in. Welcome to SQ - the world's most awarded airline.

Call VA and they will give you an SQ booking reference.

When i was booked on a VA/EY codeshare, EY's website didnt recognise my VA booking reference either. So I called the help desk and they gave me the EY no.

The next part, seat allocation. As Saji said, SQ only allows seat allocation if you book directly through their website, so I dont know what the chances are to try and reserve the seats via the phone but you can try. Once you have your SQ reference, go to checkmytrip.com and see if they have assigned a seat to you and see what is available and then call SQ and see if you can select those seats.

The reference I have works on the VA & CheckMyTrip websites. I tried calling Virgin and they said they can't see or do anything with the booking, so I guess the next step is to try SQ with the reference, although it sounds like that's a bit pointless if they don't allow seat allocations. That reference not working also excludes Online Checkin.


Does anyone know if they'll let me purchase 'preferred seating' on a VA codeshare?
