Seat disappeared for reward booking on JL

NRT to MEL on JL is always scheduled as a 788, and their international 788s are only configured as skysuite or the old flat shell seats.

In a previous J reward booking on JL's 788, all the window seats were blocked for me also.
And let me tell you, those old shell seats (I think they call them Neo, but that was Neo in like 2013 :p ) are... not good. I flew NRT-MEL a couple of months ago. I am glad I looked it up (I thought I was getting the other 2-2-2 kind with the all aisle access, but then saw it was the shell). I was in 2A but moved to the entitlement of 1A - for the legroom and ability to get out without bothering my seatmate. I'm SO glad I had (and took) that option, because the room in non bulkhead was pretty poor and I would have definitely had to bother the young lady next to me to get out.

These seats really need to go JAL - actually make the QF droppbead almost appealing !

JL really needs to update their whole premium cabin product. I think they definitely lag behind their fellow JP airline NH in the premium cabin. The Y product is pretty good though.

They've already announced the new product which is launching imminently (supposedly late Nov for HND-JFK but none scheduled yet..)

The NH config on Australian routes is not that great - I would prefer the JL Apex Suites which do sometimes make an appearance on SYD-HND.

NH's The Room was quite enjoyable, but honestly their staggered product they fly to Australia is pretty mid. I'm especially bothered by the lack of legrest.

Given all the talk about JL's premium cabins and its shortcomings, I 100% regret not going with my gut and choosing to fly via Taipei on CI.

At least that product will be 1-2-1 in business and not the JL type of Reverse Herringbone seat (ie. numerous reports and posts about it being narrow etc).

I just hope that the 2-2-2 Skysuite layout will be okay.

For those who've flown CI's B777/A350 1-2-1 business product compared to JLs 787-8 2-2-2 business product, which would you pick?

I've flown Sky Suite (Apex Suites) and also CI's A350 (Super Diamond)

JL's product if I can get a window seat, otherwise CI.
