Seat occupancy lower

And now if wanting to return from BKK/SIN to Australia from mid September to mid October requires 100,000+ points per person in economy.

One way cash airfares are also ridiculous. Are loads that high or airlines taking advantage of school holidays?

Airfares seem to be ridiculous for end of year travel as well.
Loads are high.

On Thursday 4 August 2022, QF405 (an A332, the 0630 hours early morning from SYD down to MEL) looks to only have 80 economy class passengers booked.

Incorrect - it has 170 passengers booked.

Some of these would be in J that I did not search on EF, but thanks.

Still, a poor load factor of only 62.7 per cent during the morning peak period. Maybe the return flight had more, and freight and mail revenue helps, but unlikely to be profitable given airlines' big overheads.

No wonder QFd is reducing flights if it can't fill aircraft at what traditionally have been busier times of the day.

I was checking BNE-SYD flights for 2 weeks time.

Saturday has quite a few 2 hour gaps between flights.

Friday seems to be normal but prone to lots of delays and cancellations.

Wednesday/Thursday only a few flights scheduled each night.

Think it will take quite some time for domestic travel to return to normal. Surely people have become experts in meetings over the internet and it'd be difficult to justify costs of face to face meetings?

I don't think it's that much worse than pre-covid on my frequented route of SYD MEL. Had my 5pm cancelled a few times but no biggie.
Lounge was noticeably more peaceful today though. Seems like Mondays are quieter than others and getting quieter.

I'm still out there weekly but anecdotally heard a few other companies reducing travel budgets.

Nope, we are travelling same levels / more pre-covid. Virtual meetings are a good bridge but true connection and collaboration is face to face and we are winning contracts / tenders by fronting up while some companies are still hiding under the doona! It won’t last because they are losing business and are frantically fighting to get their travel budgets backed in again. Ours were never cut thankfully.
