To answer their questions: row 10 on the 787 is pretty good. I'd say worth the fee. No way I'd take a middle seat and hope the other seats aren't filled. Had one flight where someone loudly and incredulously asked if anyone in the front section had actually paid for seat selection. At the end of the day JQ are going to sell fares to fill every seat on the plane. That means someone has to get the expensive seats at check in.
