SeatCounter question

I am due to fly LHR-SYD in Y on July 13 on QF32. I have requested an upgrade and as WP feel my chances should be ok. I looked it up on SeatCounter and it shows 9 in J and for that matter 9 in Y.

I am wondering 2 things...

1. What do the local experts think of my chances of an upgrade.

2. Why is the maximum number of available seats shown as 9. Or am I missing something?

1. Being Platinum, you have a better chance than anyone else but never certain.

2. 9 is the maximum number of seats that will be shown as open on QF on seatcounter and all like systems. There may infact be 30 open in Business and 100 in Y, but the system will only show a max of 9.

Only a single character is available the max number of seats via the GDS systems usually, and even then airlines like QF use a maximum number of 9, some other airlines only use a nuber like 7 or 4

You should also check D class (discount business) as this can indicate how many seats they think they may sell before the flight, and also check the legs individually - they are very often very different.

Certainly D class, if that's 9 a few days before the flight your chances are very good. Also Look at I class, if any at all your upgrade is probably a 'shoo-in'.

Seatcounter.com sometime shows U class shock, in the unlikely event it shows any non zero number in this class, you can prepare your two carry-ons.
