Seating Allocation Website

Last year sometime, a forum member posted a website link where you could put you booking reference into and bingo it would show you your allocated seat on that flight. I have done a search for the site with no luck, any reader out there be able to assist with the site please.

www.checkmytrip.com is probably the one you're talking about if an International flight.

The Qantas website will normally show the seat number as well in the top left side of the booking when looking at it if you have one allocated.

Qantas only allocates seats to International passengers who meet certain conditions - the rest are allocated upon check-in/night before, so if it's not listed then that's probably why.

AirNZ are similar to Qantas in that they will often only allocate seats the night before/on the day for International flights for a lot of the pax. Domestics for them are different in that you can pre-allocate seating when you book, and even check in! (This is available through the AirNZ website)

I can't think of any websites to check an international flight on NZ offhand, perhaps someone knows of one that accepts the AirNZ booking code.

You could try Galileo ViewTrip www.viewtrip.com/ and see if that works. It's a site that my TA gave me - all that I had to do was to put in the trip Galileo code and it gave me the whole itinerary including aircraft type, seating plan and allocated seats.

As Mal posted on post #2 above. This only works for International Flights and not for Domestic.

The AirNZ site was pretty unreliable when I travelled AKL-MEL 14 months ago. A discourse with Kiwi Flyer confirmed that it requires the Moon to be aligning with Mars along with booking on line and perhaps even be an odd day of the month when booking.

Perhaps a look at the FlyerTalk Air New Zealand forum may elicit more information.

Viewtrip's also very handy for checking that your TA hasn't ripped you off on taxes or overgrossed your airfare (which happens extremely regularly) as all financial info is listed.

(note there is a BIG difference between adding on a service charge and outright over grossing which is illegal)

Even though it's Amadeus based, it does work for AA's sabre bookings by entering the ticket number and may be useful for AirNZ.

It may help to access via the English portal.

Go here first: LAN - Country Selector & click the following:

• "Australia/New Zealand"
• "Travel information"
• "Printing e-tickets" (Under "Travel preparation")

The page should display in English.

Enter the ticket number under "Search by ticket number" and PAX Surname under "Passenger last name", then click SEARCH. Make sure you only click the the lower SEARCH button.

However for some recent bookings on BA & CX in F I cannot see an allocation on either (including some BA flights booked using QFF points on the QF website). Has something changed? I would not normally be too concerned, but I've linked my PNR to that of Mrs Asiaflyer, and given it's our honeymoon she may not be too happy if we cannot get seats together (keeping in mind F cabins don't leave much flexibility if not first to check in).

Generally getting your CX seat info is like getting blood out of a stone without calling CX directly.

I assume you have your QFF booking reference (the 6 digit/letter thing) - you can log onto BA's manage my booking and check your seat assignment there.

How soon are the BA flights?

What status have you? Your Betrothed? (BA Gold/Silver, oneworld Emerald/Sapphire)

What is the booking class you are travelling in? (Full F? Award P? Discount A?)

This is all important because if none of the above are true, then you can't preselect seating until 24 hours before the flight.

So, if your booking class does not allow you to pre-allocate seating on BA flights but at least one of you has status that enables you to do this anyway the separate bookings must be linked in a special way.

This is not true. All passengers in First are allowed access to pre-select seats subject to seating availability, other than for row 1 which is restricted for pre-allocation until T-72 (iirc) for those with Emerald OW status

It is only in the lower cabins where the seating restrictions exist

For the BA F booking, just hop to ba.com , access the booking using MMB and select seats

Oh so much choice in F !!
Any F seat would be nice for a start for most of us i think, having said that i will score and F upgrade one day i am sure then i will actually care.

Any why is the BA pre-selected seating so bad, i nearly always can find a more forward isle than my preselected. (Atleast the preselection gets me into the front cabin area all the time so far)

You are correct - FWIW, there is v. little chance I'll ever travel BA F, so have not researched that. More here:

Ok well i guess its not that bad, just strange to me they dont start right from the front when you have forward isle as your preference.
And i actually like flying BA (not club world so much since i am tall), i have done 7 international flights with them this year so far and have been treated well on all. (No upgrades this year though, but atleast exit rows and blocked seats sometimes)
