Background to this thread:

In a similar vein to the "Flight Availability / Upgrade Probability Help Desk" there has an increase in the posting of questions about specific seat allocation/availability on a flight. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with such queries. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.

This new consolidated thread is where you can ask questions about seating allocation/availability. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve usability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread:

Please post questions about availability of specific seats in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, Origin, Destination, date and cabin as applicable.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Hi Newbie here so fingers crossed Im posting in the right spot.!!

My husband and mother are travelling with me from Perth to LHR. Ive selected seats 59A and B for Hubby and I and it shows the row of seats across the way vacant. When I go into manage my mothers flight and select her seat it shows the entire row blocked. The only difference is that hubby and I are departing from Newman and Mum is departing from Perth. Am I holding my mouth wrong??

Hi All
I am SG and should get to WP for the first time next month :-0

I have a trip booked - Syd - DEN via DFW, - DEN - LHR - SINGAPORE- SYD all on Q apart form DFW to DEN all Economy.
On a recent trip I managed to get 33A (I think it was) upper window seat in economy on the 380 in Economy.
When I look at the seat maps at the moment, they have a lot of seats blocked such as Lower deck front few rows as well as upper deck window seats. But there are a couple of seats available in the middle of the upper deck.

Would any of these get "Un Blocked" and become available to me, if I get to WP?
If not then who gets these or when do they become available?
Any help appreciated.

The first 2 rows of Y downstairs will remain blocked for WP1 and CL until T-80

Upstairs bulkheads should be available to WP

Could have sworn I did not have access on a Y trip to SIN last November, maybe it was only exit rows I couldn’t take?

Pretty sure the only bulk head I could chose was upstairs

Not all passenger seats are open for sale on QF7/8 due to the distance.

There is a possibility that an empty row of 3 or 4 is available at checkin for a a few hundred dollars on QF8

Hi team, EY32 CDG-AUH tomorrow, are there exit rows available? We extra to select exit rows yesterday but Etihad 'lost' our seat assignment and we haven't been able to sort the issue out with them directly.

Assuming you are in Paris, then that would be a flight on 27/4? If so all the exit rows in Y are still showing unallocated on the seat map.

We have upcoming flights with China Airlines (Taiwan) from Australia to Europe return. We are ticketed to fly on their A350 aircraft.

As I am 6ft 2in tall I am looking forward to the extra legroom of premium economy.
I had allocated the two of us seats 33HK. But I have now read that the leg cradle support available might actually restrict our legroom, when the support raises our legs towards the magazine holder and footrest in front.

Are we better off allocating bulkhead seats 31HK instead, despite the fact that we may not be able to extend our legs fully due to the fixed partition in front?

Many thanks in advance for all advice.

I believe the bulkheads are the way to go. The distance between the seat and the bulkhead is far greater than you would find in normal economy, so no major problems with your legs being restricted. I'm 6'3 and fit in Jetstar's 787 bulkhead 'business' class. CI has a slightly increased pitch over JQ. You can use a full-zised cabin bag on the floor (after takeoff) to give you a fully horizontal legrest.

you can get a good view of the bulkhead legroom in this rtipe report: China Airlines A350 Premium Economy SYD-TPE June 2018 - Airliners.net (about a third of the way in, the second phot once the pax is on board.)

Hi there,
I have read a article on AFF somewhere about what the best seats are for economy travellers (A380) but I would like to see if anyone could add comment please.
I have booked a sale fare and Qantas apparently do not allow an upgrade request on that fare, so apart from trying to contact Qantas customer service which could take hours to assist and then charge me a fortune to modify my fare to a saver or Flexi fare ( probably should have booked this at the start) I might just pay for the extra legroom seats. Flights are QF35 Qantas A380 Melb - Singapore return. In November this year. Could anyone suggest possibly the best economy seats to select please, prefer window, travelling alone.

Any comment appreciated
Regards
Ross

If they’re available, upstairs in the wee little economy cabin.
But they’re in high demand.

If you can, go for the Y seats in the upper deck - row 32 to 36 (as Forg just said). Anything in 32-34 A, or 32-36 K are good. Although as Qantas are refurbishing the A380's and get rid of the Y cabin upstairs, do check to see if your flight is on one of the refurbished aircraft.
