Seats.aero - a useful tool for finding Qantas & Velocity reward availability

What do you mean?

You do know that you can't search Thai award availability with 0 miles in the account, don't you? Thai Airways blocks award searches when you have a zero balance

Yes, aware of the issue with Thai.

Confused because below implied now J availability from seats.aero
J availability 2024-10-28, 2024-11-11 and 2024-11-13. Doesn't quite meet your criteria but Y availability looks a bit better

Yet searching directly on the UA site implies there is. I feel like I'm missing something obvious. I don't want to land up transferring Amex points to TG to only find there aren't actually award seats.

If it’s showing on UA, I would expect it to be there on TG.

Perhaps try and discount “phantom” seats on UA by seeing how far you can get without actually purchasing?

None of the scraping tools are perfect. Sometimes seats.aero misses seats.

And none of the partner booking websites are perfect either. They sometimes have phantom availability.

Only way to check with close to 100% accuracy is to call Thai.

I think this is the right thread to ask this question:

Situation:

* Seats.aero shows availability for a QF CR J seat from HND-SYD, bookable via AA on U stock. I can load the flight into my cart without logging in.
* QF shows no seats via Multi-city/normal booking site.
* AY via Seats.aero doesn't show this, but their QF award availability in ANZ has never been great

Why the difference? Is AA reserving U seats for their FFs?

I don't have EF, but if anyone is interested in digging further, it's QF60, 9 Jul 2024.

Prob phantom availability. AA tends to have some of it. You can check by going to the check-out page — it'll error out if it's phantom.

Am I doing something wrong? Just purchased a month of seats.aero pro.
On Qantas website, there are J seats for SYD-HND end of October 2025. However, I have tried multiple searches in seats.aero and it doesn't show dates up to end of October? Seems like the latest date it is showing is 20th October.

We search Qantas 353 days out, so 20th sounds about right. The Qantas website doesn’t seem to let me search any farther out than that, unless I’m missing something?

If you go to Qantas multi-city tool and key in SYD-HND for the latest available date (21st Oct in this case), the calendar view will show up to 28th October.

Ah I see, I’ll have to check if we can push the date out farther for Qantas. We can’t use the multi-city tool for Seats.aero because you have to be logged in to use it.

In general if you are booking right at schedule open I would generally just suggest using the airline site, since there will be a bit of a delay between when we check it next and when the schedule opens up. But it would be nice to have an extra week on Seats.aero.

I noticed option to search for >1 seat on other programs, but not on Qantas. Is this something that is coming in future? Currently, I use Alaska search to work around this for Oneworld airlines and assume Qantas would have the same availablity.

Since they don't provide us the seat counts, we're currently unable to do it for our cached results. If you are a Pro user doing live searches though (results with the ⚡), then we did recently begin passing the # of seats from your advanced filters to Qantas during the search, and it should reflect properly.

Ideally in the future we can let you just run live searches instead of returning the cached results to help fix this issue.

However searching for SYD-HND redemptions on seats aero the only J awards I can see on QF up to 21.10.25 are Tuesday and Wednesday next week. Looks like a fairly miserable search. But you can get direct J flights on NH through aeroplan on a few days.
