Hi all,

I am trying to book 2 rewards flights in business class from Brisbane to Japan for November 2025.

I am using seats.aero and struggling a little when it comes to actually seeing the equivalent on the airline sites. Is this common?

For example, I see this on seats.aero:

But when I move to Qantas I get this:

It also doesn't really input the correct details into the Qantas search. I have to add them myself by cross-referencing the seats.aero info - not really what I saw when I watched the YouTube videos on this!

Any ideas on how to overcome this?

Thanks!

Try using the multi city search tool and break it up into the individual legs rather than the main booking page.

I can see it using the multi-city tool but still just inputting BNE-KIX.

I think it does happen though as sometimes seats.aero uses cached data (I’m not sure when and why some is live data)

Further to this...

Is it common to just book one way, then try to nab the return leg separately later?

Sorry, I am a newbie to this! :)
Yes - very common with rewards; better with 1/2 of what you need, than none!

Cheers,
Matt.

From Brisbane, it's more difficult but JAL usually releases multiple business awards on its SYD-HND flight with an onward connection to Osaka (if that's your preferred destination.) They do get snapped up quickly, but I just checked and today's release appears to have availability for 2.

Not fussed if we fly into Tokyo or Osaka. For some reason my calendar only goes to Nov 16 atm.

Do the airlines release seats on random days/flights around 12 months out? I see yours is for Nov 23rd. Does that mean tomorrow or next week I might get something earlier in the month?

Release dates vary by airline. JAL is pretty consistent with releasing their awards at 360 days. I think it's 10am Qld time.

Are you looking at the regular booking engine or multi-city? If you use the multi-city and check the box for flexible dates, you'll see more dates ... up to 360 days for JAL.

Hi... I am finding Multi City more reliable. I check back each day at 10am to see if anything has popped up.

I might even transfer my points from Amex to QFF just to be ready. I didn't want to do that was I can also transfer to VA. But there seems even less availability there at a decent price...

Also... 360 Days takes us to Nov 23rd, but the Qantas booking calendar only goes until 16th at this stage. How can get you get to those later dates if the calendar doesn't allow it?
