Hi all, when selecting 3 adults and 1 child, when making a points booking today, it kept bringing up 4 adult tickets once I selected the reward tickets. I thought I was going crazy and would lose the tickets when restarting the search again with 3 adults and 1 child a few times, however the reward tickets were still there and came up as 4 adults once selected each time. I actually missed 4 business tickets yesterday when I didn't realise the oldest child turning 12 in May saw them cross over to needing an adult ticket (well done who got those four Vancouver tickets for Boxing Day when I had to change my search!) so I was prepared today with 3 adults and 1 child however the booking kept bringing up 4 adult tickets when selecting that, so just changed the youngest child's birth date to book. Hopefully Qantas is fine to change the date of birth, I am not really worried if child taxed as cheaper. Interest to know if anyone else has the problem.

Unless I’m mistaken, if the child is over 2 they are considered adults for the purposes of award tickets. If there’s a difference in taxes anywhere I’d book the tickets first while you can, sort it out with QFFF later :)

I booked the tickets as 4 adults and don't really mind if it was meant to be slightly less for the child ticket as I got the 4 J tickets.

I just did a dummy revenue ticket to search how it works for paid tickets and you can select infant which is less than 2, child which is 2-11 or adult. A child ticket seems to have a lower base fare than an adult ticket and no passenger movement charge, otherwise all else is the same. That's based on a fare out of Sydney one way to Vancouver.

The only issue with what you say, a child is considered adult for award tickets, was when I put in the child's date of birth it said I needed to book a child ticket. That's after I selected 3 adults and 1 child however the reward ticket kept coming up as 4 adults. Maybe a glitch however hopefully Qantas will change the D.O.B without too many troubles.
