LAtely I haven't seen the Slef Chekc-in counters for QF atSydney open. This morning there was a huge queue for QC members with only 2 windows open. Would have been handy.

With checked luggage or Without?

AFAIK, the Quick Check counters for PAX needing to check bags have been closed for most of this year.

There is new system ramping up where you can do a Qickcheck at any machine, then take your BP's and baggage to a bag drop booth.

Check out the Qantas site. The Checked BAG self check-in facility will be back in Sydney and Melbourne this and next month.

They stopped the Self-BAG check facility about May 2004 and now with the reduction in staff at check-in counters the need for self-checking had pushed it back on the agenda.

Daniel

That adds up. I have had a bit of a flight drought between June and August and noted it in my flurry of flights lately. Great having two counters for 30 QC Plebs and another two for the five J class royalty.
You reckon they could open one more?

Yes it's best not to have to check luggage but I normally go for longer than 3 days and carry samples so I'm stuck with checking in my bags

Apologies for this appalling typing. I was knocking this out in the QC when my flight was called followed by me being paged!!

Will preserve it for posterity.

I tried to check in for QF 460 at MEL tonight using QuickCheck, and was unable to do so - was given a BP saying "Please see customer assistance staff - check-in not open" (was 80 minutes before the flight).

No dramas, went to QP and checked in there, but the QP staff was saying that these seems to be a problem with QuickCheck whilst they are changing things (moving to a bag drop system, and so on).

Who knows! (I certainly don't).
