wondering if anyone has done it, specifically from USA back to Australia.

Turns out we packed rather poorly, and have accumulated even more, so need to send home a suitcase (or a box) whilst we continue on the holiday.

any suggestions of companies you used that were economical (i.e. cheap). speed not a factor

Cheers!

I have posted packages from the USA to Australia containing items not needed and/or heavy items collected. The USPS rates are pretty good, and the dispatch is quick (unlike Royal Mail).
It can be a bit of bother doing all this at a US post office, so it can take some time to do.

I've sent stuff home from Hawaii using FedEx which was right at the hotel. It cost $200 so my friend and I split the cost and loaded up the box

I once mailed home a big box of clothing from the US post office.

I've sent boxes home from PO Box type shipping place in the US. Sent via DHL and about 5 years ago it as >$200 for the box. Curious what you end up paying via USPS now for how big/heavy of a box.

We need to do the same this year, as with SQ our 5th bag has to be paid form LAX & NRT & SIN for our trip back due to stopovers, it would be nearly $600 for an extra bag.

Like others have said from the US I have just USPS cheapest possible and it always arrives. Although not from the US by coincidence I mailed a box back to AU today with Korea Post, should be in AU within 2 weeks.

I miss the days of surface mail from the US....

The cheapest way to send a 20 lb package now according to the USPS website is their Flat rate box... USD $99.95

I tried pricing a small suitcase sized package..weighing 40 lbs...Ouch! USD $233
