Thanks Amaroo, wonderful insight for me never having been there but having Shanghai in the back of my mind.

We were in Shanghai in 2005 so this brings back some memories. The gorgeous colours of the buildings at night is one of them. No scooters, only bikes and cars when we were there.

I hope Hakkasans was less noisy than the London one - I hated it, because it was so crowded and noisy.

Our last night in Shanghai, given we had an early flight in the morning we decided to eat in-house at the RC’s 1* Michelin - Jin Xaun

Cracking views from the table

The London restaurant has a different tempo with a younger more vibrant clientele, pretty much like London - we loved it it. This one in Shanghai was completely different, more business / refined - much like Shanghai... both meals were excellent though.

Sounds much nicer. I don’t mind a younger vibe and I love London, but having music blasting out so that conversation is impossible doesn’t do anything for me or being told something I wanted to order was off the menu and then seeing it delivered to the next door table, who arrived after us..... Apart from dessert I thought the food was pretty average, but then a staff member I chatted to when l leaving (upstairs away from the noise), said they were having trouble with their kitchen, so maybe an off night. I might give it another try in Shanghai :)

Up early, into the hotel car, and straight to the CX PVG lounge. Bog standard for a CX lounge these days...

The menu - didn’t bother eating as we had other plans in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong. The flight from PVG arrived on time and we made tracks for our lunch appointment. The only reason we made a stopover in HKG - lunch at the 3* Michelin Lung King Heen. We’ve been eating here since it opened with The Four Seasons Hotel in 2005. Great hotel and excellent restaurants.... the French restaurant is also very good.
