And if they were new accounts - had you already used them at least once during this promo?

One would guess both old accounts, these work fine for me, as soon as new account involved very slow. I guess the advantage is next time (if there is one) they will all be old.

Share promos are rare, however there is often a targeted promo when there is no mass market one, making a small purchase can help when it comes to the targeting I suspect but there are no hard and fast rules, there might not be any more for all I know.

Sorry Its been a very long day so please figure this question. Im keen for some advice

I opened my USDM account in AUG bought 20k miles recently. then this week It shared them to a family members account and this person
now has 40k. I want to share again back to me, but at what point will it become uneconomical under the bonus points promo ? I do remember reading that it tops out at 50k bonus...

Very keen on everyones thoughts.. and yes like you all I love this promotion and clearly USDM rocks !

So you can still receive 50K bonus and they can still receive 30K - the maths is not hard - STOP at the point when one of you reaches the 50K limit

Took the plunge and shared 50K between both my wife and myseld. No trips planned yet and will still need to purchase some additional miles but not too fussed if this ends up in AA. Happy days!

Just so we know what time we are looking at, my understanding of PT (Pacific Time) is that this is 18 hours behind AEST so we would have until 6pm Wednesday to do this, any agree/disagree?

EDIT: Hmmm....my account now shows -25,000 and my brothers shows 100,000 (I think I tried the transaction twice when I thought the first had failed). Getting hard to track what's going where when these transactions aren't instant.

Just wanted to report a data point. Looks like shares initiated before the promo ended (but not completed) will still achieve the bonus.

Initiated a 50,000 share on Tuesday night that just came through as 100,000. Have one more still waiting to clear but it looks promising.

You should be ok. Did my last one at 11am and it went through fine. Both accounts 12 days old.

Interesting I repeated the same share transaction twice on Tuesday but using different CC numbers as I thought one had failed.

This morning both posted! SWMBO now has a negative DM balance and I have double what was expected.

I had the same thing happen! But shared back so the negative balance was erased, but ended up with more DM than expected. Good result for me I think.

Does this mean the receiver received more than 50K points? Wonder what they will do here. The worst outcome for many would be allow the extra transaction but deny the bonus, however unsure how they will handle the negative balance. After all one response to this may be for people to just ignore/close the account.

For me, have shared 325K miles between my family group of 7 (and hasten to add these are all legitimately family members) so its been exhausting but decidely useful to some of our family plans.

were you as a result of the error able to share more than 50,000 bonus to the same account then?

No, one was a new account so was only able to get going mid this week.

I have also been charged 2 fees ... which I guess is appropriate....
