OK, AFFers ... here is your challenge:

Charges against Christine Lee for $4.6 million Westpac overdraft dropped

The lawyer for a former Sydney University student who bought $4.6 million worth of designer handbags and shoes following a banking error said she was "very relieved" all criminal charges against her had been dropped.

What value of shoes and accessories do you think you could buy in a week or so?

I always thought the criminal charges against that lady were weak, although obviously her spending habits are rather profligate!

Ah yes the letter of the law. Let's encourage more criminals to get away with crime. Just like the money launderers who pour billions through the pokies every year.

A newbie to this thread.
Shoes and some jewellery.. I buy and then promptly put away.
However bags a different ..and definitely runs in the family. My late mother loved Burberry and Salvatore Farragama, son (mid thirties ) loves LV. He has in the past dropped numerous hints for various pieces.

With whatever shoes one buys, follow physiotherapists' recommendation to patients with foot problems.

Pick up one shoe and hold it between one's two hands held open.
Press in, and observe where the shoe bends.
If the shoe bends at the half way mark or nearer the ankle, the shoe is a dud.
If the shoe bends at the ball of one's foot (i.e. area adjacent to where big toe meets foot), then the shoe is a good one.

I've seen a $600 pair of Hugo Boss shoes fail this test, and a $30 pair from a budget shoe chain pass it.

Usually though, one has to check out the shoes and walkers of Florsheim, Niblick, Slatters, Rockport and the like to have a very good probability of finding shoes that pass this test.
Regards,
Renato

And Florsheim aren’t that durable either.

Had 2 duds from Ecco - first time they were replaced with no questions asked and now the replacement pair has the same issue. They are like a sneaker and the shoe leather has come away the rubber around the sole. Only about 6 months old but not worn a lot so guess I will have to take them back again. In the scheme of the prices for shoes on this thread they were not expensive but were still about $250 so not good enough.

We have a new accessory in our family. A sapphire and diamond engagement ring for a NYD proposal by MasterP. Which was happily accepted. I’m going to be a Mother in Law
Yay!!!

Do we get to see a photo?

Here is one I prepared earlier.

MasterP was born in Sri Lanka so it is a Ceylon Sapphire. The diamonds are a little larger than what he was expecting as he had this designed in SA.

now you have to shop for a dress and shoes :)

Yes. Well. It’s complicated. There will be a reception in England and Australia. I have not been advised yet where the wedding will be but I might have to get a hat. Fascinator more like.
