Rimowa luggage is much cheaper in Germany. I'm going there next week taking a list of orders with me ;)

Anything that is made there or in Europe would be cheaper. I am headed there as well will be picking up Birkenstock sandals. I think they are $150 aud to 48€. My favorite is Longchamp totes. They are about 1/2 the price and are great travel bag

Where in Germany are you headed? Clothes shopping has been slightly cheaper than in OZ. I find value in being able to walk the streets of Hamburg with beer purchased from a service station on your walk to a bar.

Peek & Cloppenburg are my favourite - picked up a Wellensteyn winter coat for about 40% of what the cost in OZ.

Don't forget that the tax is quit high in Germany and often one gets a good return at the Taxfree counter !

It should be noted that most shops are generally closed on Sundays in Germany (they are allowed a few Sundays per year depending on the region).

Oh yes and going to the big apartment store like KaDeWe means organising a tax refund is much easier as are the more expensive retailers like LV and others ......

I'll be in DUS in August. Look forward to checking out the goods and prices.

I am liking our dollar a little more now. I will be in Berlin the 2nd of August on my Double STATUS Credit run!!
WoooHooo

Depends what you like, I like Kaufhof (department store a la Myer but bigger and better), usually also has an upstairs cafe/deli which can be good value. Lots of good individual stores as well, just need to hit the streets.

If you like Cognac/Brandy definitely pick up some bottles of Asbach.

Have been to Duisburg many years ago, much prefer Koln for sightseeing but shopping wise Duisburg should be no better/worse than anywhere else in Germany.

A bit OT, but if you're flying into DUS, would you mind keeping an eye open for Vodafone (DE) pre-paid SIM cards, and letting me know if you spot any? I'll be flying into DUS in late September, and I need a new German SIM card; a Vodafone "CallYa" SIM looks to be the best fit for my needs. If I can't get one at DUS, I guess I'll worry about it a bit further down the track (literally; this trip will feature a lot of ICEs.)

Back on topic, I'm not really into shopping (I have a wife and daughter for that) but I did spend close to €100 on Schiller CDs at Saturn on my last trip. If you're into music from that part of the world, it's worth a visit.
