Should JQi/d pax have F lounge access?

My guesting was as a pax on JQi domestic leg MEL-SYD-MEL. A publicised AFF event. Which, I might add that on reflection and as I have stated above, I now believe are counter productive to the access for dom pax argument. Discretion and small numbers preferable.

Small numbers is the key.

Small numbers doesn't affect the ambience of the lounge or the experience for other guests.

I'm sorry to hear that ;)

LOL better than wasting 3+ hours (x 48 trips x 3 years = 432 hours+) in traffic to fly out of BNE + earn less SC and points :p + those 40SC and 2,080 QFFP per round trip were decent enough compensation.

I would do it too in those circumstances.

I think that's the key; big, public events are counter-productive these days, and can potentially bring negative publicity to this group (and others). Impacting on the enjoyment of other people in the lounge is definitely not on.

I'm not WP so I don't have access on my own anyway and have only attended once on a JQ ticket, but I don't see a problem with it. The rules give access, and that's that. Unless of course large groups make so much fuss that they ruin it for everyone else...

I am no longer a WP but I fully support being able to access the F Lounge flying QFi domestic. I don't care if the JQ flights were price beated $9.00 fares. At the end of the day, a WP is WP because they earnt enough SC to get there. In addition anyone who wants to go through the hassle of passing immigration and spending time away from home just for a meal and a drink, well good for them. I think after two visits you might get pretty bored from the lounge, pretty fast.

I believe that status or J class pax on JQ should only ever be able to access the J class lounges (especially where there is a QF option on the same route).

May as well just make it no access. Simpler - and then it's consistent.

Unless you can think of another arrangement where that access level exists?

Fair point that I don't disagree with. Domestically I have some sympathy for those pax who like to keep their spend within the QF group but are flying on routes where no QF metal available. Internationally I don't see a problem with sending them all to the J Lounges.

In MEL at least it will no longer be an issue once JQ moves from the QF terminal into their own LC terminal ;)

All jokes aside JohnK - even on $9 TT price match - QF made over $1000 out of me in additional positioning & return flights on QF aircraft to attend said social event.
Well you are an exception. Collateral damage?

P.S. I was not joking. I was actually quite serious because it is these type of events that ruin it for everyone else.

I know you weren't joking JohnK.

I don't joke about these things either.

I take the F Lounge very seriously!

I find this whole thread unbelievable! We complain when QF remove benefits esp. Plat benefits. ..and now we (some anyway!) are suggesting QF remove another benefit...I'm lost for words!!

I see no suggestion of removing a benefit in this thread, even with a superficial reading. If we read between the lines we can see that the real message of this thread is about protecting existing benefits that will quickly be removed in response to continuing abuse.

No I don't think they should.

4/ IMHO - JQ should not grant access to any lounge.

Apologies if I have misquoted above.
I said the following on another thread:
... That said, I don't agree with the widespread abuse of this benefit by Qf Plats, esp. the large F lounge runs / meet ups where 20-30 people turn up, paired with QF plats, on a JQi run to Mel as that will be a sure way of ending it; I have no problem with the occasional use of JQi and F lounge access ( and spa access if available).

Apologies if I have misquoted above.
I said the following on another thread:

Not misquoting me kpc, as previously we will agree to disagree on this one.

I think there are two issues being discussed as you have highlighted.
1. Should WP's on JQi(D) get F lounge access as they do currently on any bookings on JQ/QF/OW. ?
2. Should there be organised JQ Runs where groups of WP's and guests gather in the F Lounge?

Agreement seems fairly universal so far that issue 2 isn't a good thing.

Only full fare F ticket holders should be allowed in the F lounge...no cheapo A or P fare bucket pleb!
