This is my first post on this forum, please be gentle....
I am not a Platinum, I've just manged to make Gold for the first time, but I believe that the higher up the FF ladder you get, the more privledges you should be entitled to. Why else would you choose to join the FF program!? Loyalty deserves reward ;).

Welcome to AFF enigma01au! :) The first of many I hope.

We're (usually) a pretty friendly bunch around here.

I think we are being too harsh on poor russ - he refers to 'WP riff-raff' rather than saying all WP's are riff-raff, and is thereby merely voicing the concern implicitly held by many that there are at least two classes of WP. ;)

Valuable WP (190 Pt)

  • Only flies QF, never any OW partners or Deathstar. Destinations not served by QF are simply not worth going to.
  • Flies in the highest cabin available, on flexible fares, subsidising the 'riff raff' at the back of the plane and the interlopers in the higher cabins on cheapie deals or upgrades.
  • Never stays in an airport for longer than absolutely necessary to catch the flight, and is not interested in airline lounges (though, nevertheless, expects them to be of the highest standard and to be available to only themselves, F pax and other selected 190 Pts - and certainly no OW partner riff raff).
  • Never books a routing any more indirect than necessary.
  • Receives Air magazine, but throws it out with the rest of the junk mail.
  • Was invited to join CL, but turned it down for the marketing exercise that it is. Nevertheless, is still treated as CL by QF and always shown into the CL by lounge dragons.
  • Business travel paid for by expense account, leisure travel from interest on investments or trust funds.
  • Never uses any sort of seat allocation, but always expects to be in 1A.
  • Does not eat splice (whatever that is).
  • Does not use taxis, but has a private car available on standby at all times in every QF port.
  • Does not stay at the Holiday Inn, let alone any hotel that advertises itself.
  • Would never bother to use a forum such as AFF.
  • Should always be treated by QF with the greatest of respect, and given any time access to everything QF offers.

Common WP (195 Pt)

  • Flies on all OW carriers and their subsidiaries, and QF codeshares that earn points and/or SCs.
  • Never flies full-fare, always on the cheapest possible fare available.
  • May travel in higher classes of service, but only by upgrading using BIS points (or worse, credit card-attained points) or seeking out MR worthy deals in Asia or the US.
  • Maximises time spent in airline lounges in order to take advantage of every service available, have as many meals and as much to drink as can be squeezed.
  • Longs for Air magazine, or to become CL, but never will get either.
  • Work-funded for the bulk of travel on red e-deals, self-funds MRs to attain and maintain status.
  • Constantly checks their FF profile to ensure they get the best available seats.
  • Eats splice (whatever that is).
  • Uses taxis.
  • May consider staying at the Holiday Inn.
  • Writes TRs on AFF.
  • Should be treated with utter contempt by QF, with no benefits beyond that which are absolutely necessary in order to keep QF's commodity coffers ticking over.

Other non-precious metals

  • Not worth talking about.

/sarcasm, if it wasn't already clear. Not a dig at you russ by the way, your point is well taken. :)

There really are some snotty nosed pretencious snobs out there. Get your head out of your #%$# and get over it. Who cares whether you have to line up behind someone for a feed, A WP would spend coughloads more on QF tickets than you, who is more valuable??? the WP, or you, who is probably travelling his annual deep discount J ticket to FIJI, or, paid full J price for domestic tkt just to impress people. Grrr Jagoff:evil:

straitman, the poll is currently 8:10. It seems that many people agree with me.

I stick with my original comment.

Don't let him get to you people :!:

Of course it's a wind-up/potstir. :) (or if it is not, then it's extremely well disguised as one)

I'm amazed that some posters do not see it as such, and are seemingly getting upset (unless of course, they are firmly siezing the wooden spoon and doing some vigorous stirring of their own in return).

Guilty as charged.

Nah not guilty at all Greg. :)

You may be right. It was a slightly arrogant and presumptuous post on my part, in that it was just my opinion, based on my interpretation of what the OP wrote, and not fact, and the OP was perhaps actually being somewhat serious.

Heaven knows we see words interpreted so many different ways on here sometimes.

But I still suspect a wind-up. :)

As a frequent domestic business traveller, I am am disappointed that I often need to wait behind a bunch of red e-deal-toting splice-eating WP riff-raff at the buffet and the bar.

Qantas doesn't let them sit in business class section of the aircraft without a deduction of points, or, deity forbid, defile the forward toilet with their bottoms, so why does Qantas let them into the business lounge willy-nilly?

There is a perfectly acceptable QP next door where the WPs can sit and recheck their seats at T-80, T-79, T-78 etc or whatever they do.

If QP wishes to continue to charge a premium for its business class passengers, it needs to get rid of the Holiday Inn-staying, taxi-using crowd and provide a true business class lounge for business class passengers.

Couldn't agree more!! Glad someone else shares my sentiment.

Buld the business class passengers a broom closet I say. That should be big enough.

Geez I will never get into the Business lounge with cough spelling, hmmmmm wonder how well the CEO's and mining execs of this country spell. maybe they dont deserve to be there either. BITE ME there you go thats spelt OK, and I will make sure next time I see a snotty nosed snob eyeballing me in the Business Lounge, when I am flying on my deep discount Red E Deal I will deliberately go slow, and drop a few expletives, and probably float a couple of air biscuits for you as well.
BTW wasn't a personal dig, but a general dig at people who buy a cheapo J ticket, and expeect the world to be delivered on a silver platter. OH, and just how was that cheapo J flight to Nadi? or was it the LAN to Auckland. pffft
Oh and look out next month, Im doing a Nadi Special, Myself Mrs C and the three kids are going to terrorise the J lounges at BNE, MEL, and SYD, and there is sweet FA you can do about it, because, WE HAVE CHEAPO J TKTS, and WP to BOOT. Good luck getting food with my 14YO there.

Hey Mark,

Especially if in the J lounge was only those that had paid for the J fare out of their own pocket and will not write off the cost against tax. I suggest the J lounge would be a VERY empty place with almost no one at the buffet or drinks bar! I bet those that would be there would probably be wearing thongs, T's and tight budgie smuggler like shorts.
