I understand bath is requirement for 5* rating in Oz.

Wondering if travellers prefer bath to shower or shower over bath (both) or just shower in their hotel rooms.

Much prefer a separate shower, with or without a separate bath. Absolutely hate showers over the bath.

I'd use a bath in a hotel as much as the bath in my house, i.e. not at all. A waste of space and money IMHO. I detest the shower over bath that I find in many hotels and would be much happier with just a shower. I wouldn't even notice there wasn't a bath.

There might be a justification for having a bath when you just want to wash your feet of sand or something but I can't say I've needed this recently.

I detest shubs. No 1 pet hate in hotels. Much prefer a decent walk in shower +\- standalone bath tub. Would take a shower over a shub every time.

As I get (even) older, I hate shubs, especially ones that are hard to climb out of. I fear that one day I will do myself a damage.

I avoid shower curtains over a bath - have a 99.99% success rate.

Also hate the shower in the bath thing. Separate walk in shower is the way to go

What I hated on my recent UK trip was the incredibly complex taps on both showers and baths.

One part is the temperature with minuscule markings and the other side is the flow combined with the choice of outlet where there were two coming from the same tap, e.g. flexible shower or overhead shower.

I'm also at the stage of life where a walk in shower is so much better than a shub. (Love that term!)

Walk in shower is nice but just as comfortable with a bath tub as well. The bathroom is too small in most hotels I visit to have enough room for bathtub.

I hate the hotels where there is no walk in shower and water goes everywhere.

Walk in shower is perfect for me. Some 5* hotels still have the old shower-in-bath (especially in Europe) but at least most of them got rid of the disgusting curtains.

I'm stunned at how many places still have the shubs (which I hate). Guess it takes quite some time and expense to convert, but I wonder how many people bother to use the tub (other than for kids), and getting in and out of them always feels like a disaster waiting to happen.

I try and avoid whenever possible. Choose my rooms (eg, Hilton Cairns) or my hotels (HSW - terrific showers) very carefully. Sometimes I get upgraded which stuffs up the plan!

Gee I hate those shubs. A walk in shower plus a separate spa bath does it for me, with a TV above it, like that suite I had at HSYD.

Well the 2 of us are definite bath people.Nothing better than having a soak in a warm tub after a days activities. Also with a peripheral neuropathy standing on a wet floor can become dangerous.Unfortunately for us tubs seem to be disappearing from hotels and cruise ships-a couple of the Silverseas ships we will not sail on due to the lack of tubs.

If you have time for a bath* you're spending too long in your hotel room.

*Not including a spa with company.

Like others I loathe showers over baths - give me a separate shower any day :).

Spent weekend in San Diego. Stayed at US Grant, an SPG, historical hotel. I suspect the bath was thrown out for a shower:

Zero preference for me if traveling alone, a shower takes all of 5 minutes so no big deal either way.

If traveling with the kids in tow then the better half won't book a hotel with out one.

Hate showers in the bath and being tall have to crouch down most of the time. I have been known to head to the hotel gym and use their showers
