Hi all

Wondering if anyone has any tips or insight into this situation.

We have two one way Singapore Airlines redemption bookings:
SYD to SIN 14 March 2023 (Business Class - 124,000 krisflyer miles for 2 passengers)
SIN to SYD 23 March 2023 (Business Class - 124,000 krisflyer miles for 2 passengers)

Our plans have changed. Europe seems to have settled down and we'd like to try and redo our Europe trip which was cancelled in 2020.

We are hoping to:
Cancel both one way flights and replace with new one way redemption booking - LHR or CDG to SYD - Business Class - 130500 Krisflyer miles each (I have deposited the shortfall of Krisflyer points already). The new flight will be the same two passengers.

Singapore Airlines advised via email that we can't just call up and change the flights for free as the new origin is in a different country.

I feel like we might need to cancel the flights and book again from scratch.

Would prefer not to cancel as there is a cancellation fee involved, I think $75USD per person, per flight, and since it's two bookings it would be $300usd. We already had to pay this once to salvage our krisflyer points when our Europe trip was cancelled in 2020.

Anyone have any tips or tricks here? Is it worth trying to get the two bookings combined into one, or would this not reduce the cancellation fee anyway?

I thought about booking SYD to LHR instead so the origin country is the same, but we're booking the other direction through velocity with etihad and there's minimal availability in business class coming back to Aus from Europe.

Aaron from milelion has a very detailed explanation about all the fees and changes in regards to SQ Reward Booking.

Best option is to cancel SYD to SIN leg (pay $75 per person) and change SIN to SYD leg from LHR/CDG to SYD (pay $25 per person).

You could try booking separately for SIN to LHR and back using Velocity points too (but risk with flight delay/connecting flight).

Oh I see what you mean, since SIN to SYD is technically part of the LHR to SYD flight. Hmm. I'd have to call up and change the date for that one and then try and get them to add the LHR to SIN sector and join it all up.

FYI changes are quite flexible pre-covid i changed a SYD-SIN to SIN-SYD on another date. Only incurred a change fee not a cancellation.
